This Mother’s Day weekend was one for the books. I remember thinking my first two Mother’s Days were special, but this was just different. Adeline is my little buddy, and it just makes every holiday way more fun. I love it so much! We didn’t do much over the weekend, but did just enough to make it simple and sweet.
Friday night we ordered our usual pizza, and stayed out way too late in the backyard letting Adeline swim and play. It’s finally getting to the point where it feels AMAZING right as the sun starts to set and it makes it so hard to come inside!
We kicked off the weekend with a family breakfast date first thing Saturday morning. If there’s one meal Adeline is crazy about, it’s breakfast, so we’re always sure to include her! After breakfast, we headed to Home Depot to pick out my gift – a new tree for our (very barren!) backyard! Quite the opposite from our old backyard that was literally all woods! We also picked up some mulch and stones for the border, and tried not to buy all the beautiful flowers on display. Adeline insisted on wearing her princess dress all morning, and got several compliments from the workers at Home Depot laughing about having a princess in their midst!
Saturday afternoon, Adam planted my new tree and Adeline supervised. I wanted to ask for something meaningful this year that would last, and I landed on a tree that could symbolize my babies. I’ve been wanting a tree in our new backyard ever since we moved in, because well, there are literally no trees back there! Ha! So now seemed like the perfect time to to add one and I can’t wait to watch it grow as my babies grow. It’s just a little scrawny guy right now, but one day it will grow and grow and provide beautiful shade.
Saturday night, we hit up my in-laws pool for a quick swim before bedtime, and Adeline had the time of her life splashing around. I can’t wait to get in with her once the water warms up because I have a feeling she’s going to be a little fishy this summer!
Sunday morning, we headed to church, then picked up my favorite fried chicken for lunch on the way home. Adeline took a nap, I made a Home Depot run, and Adam worked on my Honey-Do List. Basically, it was a Mother’s Day well spent and we got a few things done in baby brother’s room! Adam and Adeline both got me sweet cards, and a fresh pack of bath bombs – which of course she says she picked out alllll on her own.
I figured I would just do a photo dump of the weekend, since most of our weekend was already documented on Instagram. If you don’t follow me, I post most of our day-to-to adventures and memories over there, and leave the more lengthy tales and topics for the blog!
Happy (late) Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there! I hope your days and weekends were wonderful in more ways than one! You are all amazing!
How was your Mother’s Day? What did you do or how did you celebrate? Did you relax or were you productive all day?
