Planning and throwing birthday parties has been one of my favorite things so far about parenthood. I’m not usually an over-the-top party planner, but there’s just something that’s so much fun about picking out the perfect theme, the perfect little details, and making the day as special as possible. I don’t think we’ve ever gone overboard by any means, but I’ve so enjoyed the process every time.
Adeline’s first three birthdays were all so much fun to put together, and I loved planning them and daydreaming about how to put them all together. Between her Wild One party, Puppy Pawty second party, and her Disney Princess third party, I’m not sure which one was my favorite. They all have a special place in my heart, but I think her first will always make me the most sentimental. I stayed up so many late nights thinking of how to make it perfect for my baby girl, and I LOVED making every single detail, and just loved the final product so much. It still makes me swoon because it takes me back to how magical those days were leading up to our girl’s first birthday.
Now that we have another little one to party plan for, I’m so excited to keep on keepin’ on! Barrett’s first birthday has been quickly approaching, and I finally honed in on a theme. Adam and I have been picking out fun details and making plans for food and I can’t wait to celebrate our little guy! We ultimately decided on a Waffle House theme – appropriate right?! He technically visited the WH almost every Saturday morning since he was in my belly, and he’s now been to the WH almost every Saturday morning during his first year of life! We’re kind of a big deal and all of the workers kiiiiind of love us. (We’re also members of the Regulars Club. If you’re not – hello free waffles!)
We’re just keeping it simple though and having some family and church friends over for a morning breakfast at our house. We’re planning on decorating our dining room table, whipping up a fun waffle cake, and serving all the breakfast essentials. I am also hoping to pick up a few WH hats for the kids, and some other branded WH paraphernalia. We’ve never actually made a waffle cake before…but how hard can it be?! (Disclaimer: we ordered a new belgian waffle maker and justified the purchase as a write-off for B’s birthday party, HA!)
Color wise, obviously we’re going with black and yellow. Because duh, those are the colors of Waffle House. It’s going to be smothered, covered, and chunked with a side of gravy and I CAN’T WAIT.
Here is a little mood board I threw together to help organize my thoughts. To see a few mood boards from the past, check them out below:
