Marathon Recovery: One Word

Hey peeps!

I had full intentions of getting the second part of my Walt Disney World Marathon race recap up today. But in all honesty, I am so tired. Marathon recovery is no joke, and I’ve been reminded of that all over again. This week has been a real struggle ya’ll. The struggle bus doesn’t even come close. I’ve also had to deal with switching hosting providers for my blog, and that in and of itself has worn me out. So if you’ve noticed anything weird over the past few days, that was why. Or if you notice your comment has disappeared, it’s because I had to re-do a couple posts that didn’t transfer over. (I think I lost 12 of your comments, whomp whomp!) Long story short but switching hosting companies has been a long time coming and I’ll have to fill you in at a later date! Also, SiteGround is the bomb. Bluehost, not so much. On Monday night I passed out so hard on the couch that I barely remember being carried to bed.

On Tuesday at work – wait, was I even at work? Pretty sure I don’t remember anything from that day. I do remember not being able to walk properly.

On Tuesday night I put two pints of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream in the refrigerator. Heart = broken.

On Wednesday night I went to bed at 8:30, after taking a hot epsom salt bath.

On Thursday at work I left my lunch sitting out all morning and spoiled a package of Chobani yogurt. Heart = broken again.

On Thursday afternoon, I went to the dentist and almost fell asleep in the chair. I hate the dentist, so that’s saying something.

On Thursday night I laid on the couch and watched 5 episodes of 48 Hours: Hard Evidence.

(Thursday was really just a rough day, and I think the previous 4 days had all just eventually compiled together.)

And tonight?

I shall continue to lay on the couch and eat pizza.

How do you recover from marathons? Or from races in general? What are you doing this weekend?

I remember being pretty wiped out after my first marathon, but I must have blocked out the details. I’m super excited to spend the weekend at home relaxing, and giving not just my body but my mind a much needed rest. I think I’m out of the sore phase, but I can just tell my muscles are still weak, and I know it will just take some time to get my strength back.

    Awww, Pobrecita! Sorry it’s been a struggle, but thanks for making me laugh. Although it was at your expense (no pun intended), the heart broken moments about spoiled food are so something I would have felt too! Cheers to a weekend of rest and recovery! xoxo, ganeeban

      I am glad you enjoyed my struggles 😉 haha! And I’m glad someone else can appreciate spoiling some of their favorite food…I was so distraught!

    well geez! rough week girlfriend, but it sounds like you needed all that relaxation. Getting caught up on sleep and letting those legs rest are so important! I hope this weekend is better for you. Can’t wait to read the recap 🙂

      Hahaha it was rough indeed. This week I feel like a new woman, thank goodness! Recovering from a marathon is no easy process 😉

    I feel ya! I took the Monday and Tuesday off after my marathon last year! I’m so glad I did. I got a massage and just relaxed and acted like a sloth. This year, I’ll just take one day off after my marathons. It is needed. I’ve been super tired this week too. I have taken more than 1 nap. Per day. Yesterday AND today. I think I had 3 naps today alone? Working a 2nd job at night, even though it’s at home, is quite the adjustment b/c I am not ready for bed when I stop working. So going to bed after 1am, laying there wide awake for a while, and then the alarm going off at 5:35 am, isn’t cutting it. I need to figure something out. Besides drinking a glass of wine every night so I can sleep. LOL

      Holy cow!! I bet you’re exhausted!! I’m cracking up at your 3 naps in one day reference..something’s got to give for sure! Ha! And I am oh so jealous of your massage…I need to hit that up pronto!!

      haha thanks Kylie! You are so sweet. And that is a-ok!! That’s where a lot of runners start 🙂 And don’t you worry, I did eat ALL the pizza!!
