Hello hello! Comin’ at ya a little later than usual today. I took myself on a little retail therapy date last night and stayed out way later than I had planned on. So, when I got home all I wanted to do was crash on the couch before heading to bed, and then after working all day it took me a while to crank back up my laptop.
Moving and buying a new house is so much fun, even though the stress can sometimes feel overwhelming. It feels so refreshing to have a clean canvas – the decorating possibilities are endless! And Target has been my life-source lately, ha! Even though I’m using most of my same furniture and decor from our AR house though, the new house is quite a bit bigger and has a little different “vibe”, so I’ve definitely got some new holes to fill. I’ll be sure to share soon, as soon as I’ve got something complete…which at this rate could be next year. But has anyone else felt like when they moved their decor/furniture didn’t “match” their new house? Our AR house was SO rustic/cabin-y feeling, and our new house is more rustic/classic/suburban, if that makes sense.
Here are a few things in the meantime that we are loving.
Adeline’s Cheeeeese Smile
I shared this on Instagram but I figured it was worth sharing here too. Adeline has started standing up against a wall if I ask her to, and will “say cheeeese” when I try to get her to smile. It’s hilarious, and it’s almost like she wants us to take her picture. She’s such a ham! Also loving our BRICK house. Gimme all the brick, goodbye wood.
Flashback alert! Anyone else own a pair of Birks back in middle school? *raises hand* I finally jumped back on the bandwagon, mainly because I’ve been desperately needing a good pair of comfortable sandals. I ended up sticking with the most basic style, and I’ve been loving them for running errands and just day-to-day wear.
Texas is way different than anywhere I’ve lived thus far. I’m used to hills, and woods, and rivers. And this part of DFW is pretty dang flat! I’m talkin’, you can see for miles and miles it’s so flat. And while it’s a change, it’s actually beautiful! It’s definitely a nice change in scenery, literally, and I’m embracing my new pasture views.
I’m officially an IKEA girl, ya’ll. Obsessed. I’ve ordered a few things from them online in the past, but I’ve never actually gotten to visit a store. Er, sorry, IKEA-world! It’s so big, and so pretty, and so organized, and so simple – AH I just love it. If you need me I’ll be googling ways to relocate to Sweden because those people know what’s up! On our first trip, we stopped in the cafe and pigged out. Adeline devoured her french fries and chicken tenders. The entire menu looked absolutely delicious!
New coffee shops
You guys know I love a good coffee shop. And apparently, freakishly adorable coffee shops are all the rage in TX! The two I’ve been to most recently remind me of my homegirl Joanna Gaines, always a good thing! How cute is this one??
Truckee is absolutely loving her new backyard, and I have to practically beg her to come back inside. Then she whines to go back out like 5 minutes later. I still feel like I’m living in a dream. We waited so long for a flat, grassy backyard and now it’s finally here! Adeline and Truckee have had so much fun frolicking together that it’s just really freaking adorable.
What are you loving lately? Any big life changes for you? Do you prefer grass backyards or more rocky/natural?
