Loving Lately: Pushups, House Hunting, and Change

Happy FriYay!

I seriously cannot believe it is MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. How did that happen? I’m pretty sure I blinked and the majority of May was already gone. I’m not surprised though because we’ve definitely had a crazy month, and I don’t anticipate June slowing down either. We’re so excited about our big move, and the next few weeks are sure to be anything but slow. This week has been full of the usual toddler busyness, work, and house hunting, but before I sign off for the weekend I’m popping in to share some current loves. This is also somehow my 4th post of the week – so be sure and check out any posts you may have missed. This doesn’t happen often, folks!

Oh, and if you’re local – be sure to stop by EtsyFest Little Rock on Saturday in Hillcrest! Adam will be there with Ingle Woodcraft!

The return of long walks

walking as a family

Even though it’s only May, it’s actually been really hot here. And when it’s really hot, it’s not exactly fun to take Adeline out for an extended period of time. On the flip side, it’s also been really rainy here. This week though, I’ve taken more walks than I have in the past month combined! It’s been wonderful! I’ve been taking Truckee on lunchtime walks, we’ve been taking family walks after dinner, and Adeline and I even took a few long walks at the lake after school. You name it, we walked it. As much as I love working out in a gym, there’s something so much nicer about getting some fresh air.

Pushup competitions

funny pushups

This was the first official week of me and Adam both working from home. To say it was interesting, and somewhat entertaining, would be an understatement. I think it’s going to be another adjustment period because I’ve been so used to having the house to myself during the day and had gotten into my own groove, and now he’s home too and THROWING OFF MY GROOVE! On our wish list for our next house is room for two separate office spaces, obvs. One thing though that has been fun having him home is for spontaneous workout motivation. We’ve been having impromptu pushup challenges throughout the day to encourage one another to get up and move! I think so far my record is 12 consecutive, then a repeat set. Lololol don’t judge me. Meanwhile Adam throws down like 50. Baby steps people!

Re-Play Recycled toddler divided plates

Call me crazy, but there’s nothing more satisfying that creating a perfectly divided meal for your toddler on a pretty plate. (Of course, it’s always much more satisfying if they actually eat it. #amiright) Re-Play Recycled makes the best toddler plates, and I’m obsessed with their bright, fun colors. So far I’ve picked some up at Walmart and Target, but I know they’re online too. If Adam’s not careful, our kitchen cabinets might look like Rainbow Brite before long.

House hunting for our long-term home

This has been somewhat tricky. Not because we don’t know what we want, but because we’re literally 300 miles away from where we’re moving. Adam spent a week down in Dallas for training last week, so he was able to spend some time driving around, scoping out neighborhoods, and really narrowing down the exact parts of town we want to aim for. He also looked at a couple houses we liked. We also have had his parents and his sister on the lookout. Thankfully, having family down there makes it way less stressful and scary than it sounds. More than likely, we will be placing an offer on a house site-unseen. With the magical powers of FaceTime though, and really trusting the opinions of family, we are confident we will make a great decision, and be extremely happy. I can’t wait to share (hopefully!!!!) some good news soon!

Embracing change

Now that our house is under contract, and we’re chugging forward in the process of moving, it’s definitely getting REAL. I’m not sure how to describe it, because I’m really not sure how I’m feeling. I almost feel like Adeline when she’s on the brink of a meltdown: all the emotions, all at once, but I can’t really pinpoint which one I want to feel. I’m SO excited, like beyond excited, and thankful. However, it’s also pretty bittersweet. I’ll have to talk it all out in a future blog post, but for now, I’m embracing change and looking forward to making so many new and awesome memories in a new place! This is a change we’ve known we wanted to make for years now, but now that it’s finally here – it’s a little weird!

I think that about wraps it up! Who’s ready to enjoy a beautiful 3 day weekend?! Of course, don’t forget the true reason we are all off work on Monday – be sure to thank a veteran.

What are you loving this week? Plans for this weekend? Have you ever moved states? Moving tips?

I moved to Chicago after college and only knew a few people. It was much different than moving as a family!

So true! Moving when there’s more people involved definitely makes things tricky!

My husband and I just moved to northern Idaho from Missouri last Friday! We chose our apartment without seeing it in person – definitely not the same as buying a house, but still a little stressful! My best moving tip would be to try to have a go-with-the-flow attitude as much as possible 🙂
