Loving Lately: Let’s Talk About The OA

This week has been a long one. I’ve had a cough for over a week now that I just can’t kick. More than anything now I’m just annoyed that I’m still coughing – it’s the type of tickle cough that doesn’t really do anything but hurt your ribs from having coughed for so long. I haven’t felt much like blogging, (and no I’m not pregnant) so I’m hoping this weekend will bring plenty of rest. AND it’s a short week!

I haven’t done a ‘loving lately’ post in a while, so let’s hop to it!

  • The Magnolia Journal

the magnolia journal

My sister in law gifted a subscription to The Magnolia Journal to us girls for Christmas and I was so excited when my first issue came in the mail! Regardless of whether or not you’re obsessed with Chip and Joanna’s style, they are GOOD people, and I love seeing them succeed. It’s encouraging to know that family-oriented and Godly folk can still make it in this world. Also everything she touches is gold and beautiful.

  • Unicorns

Just like pineapples had their moment, unicorns are now having their moment and I am loving it! Adeline has a unicorn stuffed animal she’s pretty attached to and I recently ordered the sweetest dress in this perfectly pink unicorn print to pair with it. Stay tuned to see photos of it in action! {plus a giveaway!}

  • Meal Planning and Kroger Grocery Pick Up

Kroger Click List has been absolutely life changing. LIFE CHANGING I TELL YOU! I think I’ve mentioned it on the blog before, but it’s amazing. It’s really helped us meal plan and that has made a world of difference! We’ve actually been thinking out our meals for once, and being super budget savvy. I need to share my recent meal plans. Would anyone be interested in seeing what dinners we’ve been planning the past few weeks? One favorite has been Sweet Potato Nachos – an older recipe from the blog, but definitely a favorite!

  • February and Love

Valentine’s Day is a great excuse for all things love themed, and homemade artwork! I’ve been loving using this month to celebrate LOVE. I received this Love Grows Best wood sign for Christmas, and as our house becomes full to the brim with toys upon toys, it could not be more true.

  • The OA

the oa questions

Alright, here we go. Let’s talk about the OA. Have you watched the Netflix original? If not, SPOILER ALERT!!!!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, and have no plans to watch it and don’t care about spoilers, here’s a very brief synopsis: a girl returns after having disappeared for 7 years, and tells her story to 5 random people while also being investigated by the FBI. The kicker is that she was blind when she disappeared, but when she returns, she can see. She thinks she has supernatural powers, and can cross dimensions, and has special movements in order to do so. You just really have to watch it! It’s weird, really weird!

I binge watched it this week, and am currently working on watching it for a second time. I have so many questions my head is spinning. I’ve read every article, review, and Reddit thread I can find and still have no idea what I think!

SPOILERS BELOW

Did she make the whole thing up? Is part of her story real? Is she just trying to cope with the trauma of being kidnapped? Is she in purgatory? Is she in another dimension? Do all of the characters parallel her fellow prisoners? Is she really an angel? If it’s not real then why did we see Hap go to Cuba? Is Homer really Homer’s name? Who is Dr Roberts? What were those red flares Buck rode his bike past in that one random scene? What did that girl mean when she took a picture with Prairie at Olive Garden? Why did she jump off the bridge in the first scene? Is the FBI agent really in the FBI? Why was he at her parent’s house when Alfonso broke in? What’s with the books in the amazon box? Why did she need wifi so badly in the beginning? Does the fifth movement correlate to a gun shot both times on purpose? How could she have possibly known about the school shooter? Where was she when she woke up in the final scene? What happened to all the others, did they die down there? Did Hap do the movements too and go somewhere at the end? Does The OA stand for “The Away” or  “Original Angel?” What was with that one random scene where the sheriff carries OA out and puts her in his sheriff car? Did he not rescue the others? But then he goes down with Hap and only gets OA and Homer to heal his wife? And for the love of god what is with all of the bird swallowing??? *Update – Rachel’s name is spelt out in braille on the wall in the FBI office! What does it mean??? Is she a spy? Does she actually work for the FBI?

SOMEBODY TELL ME! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

And if you’ve watched, you’ll appreciate this hilarious article that will teach you the 5 movements. I can’t. Dying laughing!

Happy FriYay everyone! Enjoy your weekend!!
