Happy Friday! Holy cow, another week has basically flown by, and not going to lie, it’s really starting to play with my emotions. I’ve been a mess lately it feels like, in a funk almost, just thinking about going back to work, and A turning the big 3, and now it’s practically the holiday season, and time is just flying right on by! Definitely lots of emotions to work through over here, and lots of change and transition going on, but I still wouldn’t have it any other way. I wanted to pop in and share a few things I’ve been loving lately, things that have taken up my time or changed my life. (Just wait for it, one of them is legit life changing!). Ok, let’s get started!
Halloween Trunk or Treating
Is there anything cuter than trick or treating with littles?! I used to hate Halloween, but then we had kids and now it’s really adorable and super fun. I don’t know if they do it around you or not, but we’ve always had Trunk or Treating events around Halloween where everyone gathers their cars in a large, safe parking lot and decorates their trunks with fun themes while they hand out candy. Well every year A’s preschool does it and last night I was able to sneak out without baby brother for a little mother daughter trunk or treating date! She wore her Snow White princess dress, and was so stinkin’ cute I couldn’t stand it. Last year she didn’t really “get” the whole trick or treating thing, but this year she is LOVING it.
I made a loaf of my favorite chocolate chip pumpkin bread this week and it’s literally the most delicious thing ever. You can find the recipe I use HERE. I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten 75% of it by myself though because it’s so addicting. I would add one edit to the recipe though – instead of baking it for 45 and covering for 15, depending on the pan you use, it might be more like baking for an hour+ and covering it at the 45 minute mark.
Tom Thumb Grocery Delivery
Ready for the life changing thing? GROCERY DELIVERY! TO. YOUR. FRONT. DOOR. We’ve been doing the Kroger Clicklist thing for a while now, and swear by it, but another favorite grocer of ours offers super cheap, and sometimes free, grocery delivery and the two times we’ve done it we’ve been like, this is amazing and we’re officially living our best lives. Lazy? Maybe. Millennial? Totally. Resourceful and just adjusting to the changing times that is grocery shopping technology? For sure.
This Community of Moms on Instagram: The Returnity Project
I recently discovered this new community of moms on Instagram and I’m loving it considering the season of life I’m currently in. Their handle is @thereturnityproject and it’s aimed at sharing stories of fellow working moms returning to work, and returning to their lives post-maternity leave. It’s really encouraging, and helps you feel not so alone. Give them a follow if you’re in a similar season!
I share this on my stories a couple days ago, and got several messages from you all that you loved it too! It’s a new show on NBC about the first public hospital in NYC, where patients don’t have to have insurance to be seen. It’s really interesting, has excellent story lines so far, and the soundtrack has been like something straight off of my spotify. It’s so good, you should definitely check it out and binge watch the first 5 episodes!
Early Morning Naps with B
Most mornings, B wakes up between 5-6 am, and lately I’ve been letting him fall back asleep in bed with me and it’s the sweetest thing ever. I’ll feed him, then re-swaddle him, or sometimes just leave him unswaddled, and he’ll cuddle up next to me while Adam gets ready for work and takes A to school.
