Looking Back: Christmas Through The Years

Every holiday season it’s always fun to reflect back on previous Christmases. Over the past few years, our Christmas celebrations have definitely changed, and our families have grown, but the one thing that always remains constant is spending plenty of time together. Even though we switch off every year, we still somehow manage to see both sides, and have our own little Christmas just the two (three) of us. It makes for a busy couple weeks, but I think that extra time is worth it. There’s something so special about spending time together during the holidays, reflecting on the past year, and looking toward the new year excited to make new memories.

When FTD, a premier floral and gifting company, reached out asking if I would share my story of the greatest gift I’d ever received, I couldn’t help but think that my answer wasn’t just a tangible item. I’ve received tons of amazing gifts over the years, tons of cool toys, electronics, cute clothes, designer hand bags, etc. But I honestly think the greatest gift I get every year is spending time with our families. When you live 5 hours from ANY family, having uninterrupted time together isn’t exactly convenient, and it doesn’t happen often.

As we’ve gotten older, it’s funny how “what we want for Christmas” changes. I used to be able to think of a list a mile long of things I just had to have every year. But the past few years, it’s become harder and harder to think of even a single item I just can’t live without. Since becoming a parent, it’s almost impossible to think of something for myself anymore. (Everything is about the little one now!) When it comes down to it though, we already have everything we need. Adeline doesn’t need anymore toys. She doesn’t need anymore cute clothes. None of us need anything. But the one thing do need is time with our family, because family is the most important thing. Family is forever.

Let’s take a look back at a few of the Christmas posts I’ve shared on the blog!

We are so blessed, and I am SO excited for Christmas this year! It’s just a few days away, and I can’t wait to see the magic of Christmas through Adeline’s eyes!

Lastly, if you’re in need of some last minute holiday tunes, flashback to this Christmas music playlist! It’s a good one!

I love looking back at previous Christmas pictures! My oldest just turned 14 and I found myself tearing up remembering his first Christmas, as he reminded me he only has a few more at home before leaving for college and beyond. #holdme.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!

Aw, this post is so sweet! ๐Ÿ™‚ I like receiving a really thoughtful gift no matter how small it is. Like today, my supervisor got me a giftcard to a pizza place that has a lot of GF options. It was a small giftcard but it meant a lot knowing he thought of my dietary needs and got it for me!
I love experience gifts where you can look forward to something and then create memories with the person. I got my mom tickets to a show for mother’s day and we had a blast a few months later going to dinner and the show!
