I can’t believe how fast this week is going by, it’s flying! My half marathon is going to be here before I know it, and a part of me wishes I had a couple more days to prepare, but by this point, what’s done is done!

I forgot to recap my Monday night workout, and last night’s, so this post is dedicated to both of them! But first, my husband sent me this internet gem and I couldn’t stop laughing at how it matches Miss Truckee to a T!
Poor girl, it’s tough growing into a big dog! It’s tough growing into an adult too, my how things have changed!
Monday night’s workout was a speed workout and I’m hoping it pays off when I get to the hills on Saturday. I ran on the treadmill again so I’d be sure to hit the paces that I wanted. It was one of those fast runs that reminded me how excited I am about my upcoming race and reminded me of all the hard work I’ve put in. No matter what happens, I will still be proud of how much I’ve improved my times overall. My miles broke down like this:
Mile 1- 8:49, Mile 2- 8:41, Mile 3- 8:34, Mile 4- 8:21
When I was done, a serious stretching party was in order. The last thing I want on Saturday is to be sore from sprints earlier in the week. My foam roller has been my best friend lately!
The whole time I listed to the “today’s hits” station on Pandora, and was extra motivated by some Katy Perry “Roar” and Armin Van Buuren “This Is What It Feels Like.” Good stuff, good stuff, it will definitely pump you up! Speaking of Katy Perry, did you happen to catch this video that’s been floating around?
How precious is that? If that doesn’t make your day, then I don’t know what will. It made me remember that my “problems” really aren’t that big in the grand scheme of things.
Now onto last night’s workout!
I did a similar run as Monday night’s, on the treadmill, and faster than my goal race pace. I wanted to squeeze in one more good, fast, speed workout before Saturday so I would feel a little more prepared for the rolling hills. I have really neglected training on hills this go-around, and that’s my own fault, but I’m hoping it doesn’t bite me in the booty too much!
Mile 1- 8:34, Mile 2- 8:00, Mile 3- 7:41, then a mile slow jog back home.
Sometimes it just feels good to run fast. Sometimes I think 5k’s are my favorite race distance for that very reason. Sometimes running fast is the easiest way to rid your body of all the stress from the day, and you can run to that little place in your own mind where you are super happy and in your own little world.
I also tried some new nutrition that my husband picked up, and I think I might take a few with me this weekend. I tried the PowerBar Performance Energy Blasts in strawberry banana and loved them! I ate one before, and two during, just like instructed, and felt like they gave me a little extra kick of energy, like they helped my “giddy-up” get going! They tasted like gummy bears, but a little thicker and tougher to chew. They didn’t bother my stomach at all, and I was surprised because I actually didn’t eat them with water like it says to do. You should definitely check these out if you’re a fan of Clif Shot Bloks! Here’s another look at the little guys…
He found them at Kroger, which is perfect because sometimes I don’t always have time to run all the way into town to the local running shop!
Last night I also FINALLY used my Oiselle gift card that I won back in July! I had been waiting and waiting for their new fall/winter line to come out, and trying to decide if I should go pants or top, and finally decided that I tend to cycle through tops much more quickly than pants so I should probably go with a new cute top. I ordered the Flyte Long Sleeve in coral, and I’m so excited to wear it! It’s anti-microbial, wicking, has thumbholes, and is made of super comfortable material. AND it says “fly” on the back shoulder blade. LOVE.
If you remember from my running wish-list, I’ve got my eyes on a pair of Oiselle running tights for the future! This will be my first piece to own of the Oiselle collection, and I’m anxious to show it some love!
Tonight’s workout is going to be a nice, long walk with Truckee, and I am so looking forward to it! I miss my girl! I’ve been so busy lately, and with running every night, she’s really only been getting her exercise in on the weekends, and I know that just isn’t fair to her! So I promised her a good walk today 🙂
