12 In Daily Run

it was an off day

I think everyone hates Mondays. Who doesn’t? If you say you love Mondays you can excuse yourself from this blog. Please and thank you. No Monday lovers ’round here! I think we can all relate to this.

I don’t know what it was about this morning, but absolutely no part of me wanted anything to do with the rest of the day! But after a pep-talk with my snooze button, we took it on.

It was a pretty slow day at work, so I was anxious to bust out of there and play outside in the sun! Unfortunately my desk at work is window-less and on nice days like today it is a slow and steady death. This girl needs some vitamin D.

When we got home, Truckee was in a crazy, psycho, terrible mood! Sometimes she has these “off” days and they just come out of nowhere! It’s like she’s a terrible two-year old, but in the body of a 8 month old puppy. Does she think she’s a human? Yes. She probably gets it from me. Like mother, like daughter! Ha!

My workout plan today was to get in 4 miles, and incorporate a few more hills than usual. Since I also wanted to get some vitamin D, I decided I’d run to the gym, then run on the treadmill at the gym, then run home. It’s about 1.2 miles to the gym, rolling hills mostly, but mostly rolling in the downward direction. So running home, as you can imagine, is pretty much uphill. A good challenge though for the end of a workout! So, I ran the 1.2 to the gym, and my gps told me that at 1.00 mile I was at an 8:06 pace. Then for my treadmill workout, I did 1 8:00 minute mile, then 2- half miles at a 7:30 pace. Then, I ran home. The sun was extra steamy by this time in the evening, so I took a breather half way up one of the hills. Didn’t time this mile. 4 ish + miles total. Enough to make me feel like I got a great workout in, and moved my legs enough to make up for my sitting on my toosh for 8 1/2 hours today ๐Ÿ™‚

The 2 half miles I did back to back at 7:30 pace reminded me of why I LOVE running. I felt so light and free and happy and like I was flying! I love those moments in running. Love. Love. Love.

I think is Adam is starting to really get the running bug, or at least starting to feel some “runner’s high!” He texted me from the gym today, super proud of his mile time and pace. I’m super proud of him too! It makes me so happy that our little family is so active. It just makes everyone feel better!

On the way home, I found all of Maumelle’s geese. I guess they decided to not hang out by the lake today and thought they’d get their tan on as a group?

I might make tomorrow a rest day. I noticed a funny pain in my ankles on the way home tonight, and I don’t want to over-do it! Something just felt “off” and I can’t figure out what it was. It might be a great day to head to the lake and have a Truckee play-date. I’m sure she wouldn’t argue ๐Ÿ™‚

Time to go snuggle with my terrible-two of a black lab. Luckily, as soon as the clock strikes 9pm she’s done for the day. Checked out. Finished. Left the building.

Ever have a moment of “gah, I love running!”? Do share!

P.S. Sweet Miles is on BlogLovin now!

My “i love running moment”: finishing my miles in a sub 12 min pace. Slow going for most runners but I don’t care, I felt so proud.

Love reading your blog Sarah. I’ve filled up my blog list with running blogs to keep me inspired and yours is a regular I read

Meg @ Compost Cook- haha today was a no-love-Monday kind of day! And thank you! Alex- I’m starting to wish I could reverse that order! I’m thinking a nice downhill would be a great ending note!

My runs are the same way! Whether I start at my house or my office, the beginning of my runs are always downhill…so you know what the end of my runs look like ๐Ÿ˜›

Smart call on planning a rest day! Better to voluntarily take one rest day now instead of getting injured later!

Charlotte- that’s hilarious, there’s nothing wrong with a good solid shuffle on the way home! You earned that shuffle!

What a funny video! I’ve got a Weimaraner who does goofy things. I know finishing the run up hill is tough, but I actually wish I had more hills to run on. It’ll make you strong!

Just found your blog ๐Ÿ™‚ My first ever proper runner’s high moment was running my longest ever run (9 miles) last year and it started to absolutely tip down with rain. It was so refreshing and I was so ‘in the zone’ it felt amazing.
I love that dog video at the start. Hilarious.
