Happy Memorial Day, everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful long weekend, full of family time and cookouts. This is also the weekend we usually bust out our swimsuits and take that first dip in the pool, which always feels like the first official activity of Summer. Memorial Day through Labor Day often create some of my favorite memories of the year – something about warm weather, sunshine, and a little extra flexibility from work makes everything that much better. This year we’re actually in Tennessee, visiting my family, and have a fun week ahead! We flew in yesterday, and can’t wait to have a full week showing the kids around my old stomping grounds. Tonight we’ve got a get together planned with my brother and his sweet family, and Adeline can’t WAIT to play with her cousins!
Before we forget though, Memorial Day is also a day where we thank our veterans, and our servicemen and women who have fought, and who are currently fighting, to keep us all safe. So, thank you to everyone who has ever served – you are truly all heroes. Memorial Day, aside from the hot dogs, and burgers, and sales, and pool parties, is a day we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted every single day.
I thought it might be fun to take a little walk down memory lane and check out Memorial Days of years past. Now that this little blog of mine is 6 years old, it’s steeped in the rich history that is my life! Good stuff, let me tell you. I’m so glad I’ve got so many old posts to look back on – it’s so fun seeing how far we’ve come! My how times have changed is probably the best way to describe it.
Memorial Day 2018: Our first one in Texas! Waiting on baby brother!
Memorial Day 2017: Our last one in Arkansas, spent with our most favorite neighbors just a few weeks before we moved.
Memorial Day 2016: Adeline made the trek to TN with me solo to visit my family!
Memorial Day 2015: Spent the weekend in MO with some of Adam’s family, waiting on baby Adeline!
Memorial Day 2014: I photographed one of my last weddings ever on this weekend!
Memorial Day 2013: Our first one in AR at our first house. My parents came to visit and we showed them around our favorite parts of Little Rock. (I could cry I miss that River Trail so much!)
Enjoy your day, friends!
