Happy Friday! I shared this on my Instagram a few days ago, but I wanted to end the week by sharing it with all of you as well. By now, you know that not only am I passionate about my fitness and my family, but also about my skincare and clean living where possible. And during the warmer months, that also means SUNSCREEN!
And to help you start summer off strong with a safer sunscreen option for you and your own family, I’m giving away a full size bottle of Beautycounter’s Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, valued at $39!
This sunscreen is seriously one of my absolute favorite must-haves for summer. I have the lotion, the mist/spray, and the stick, and love all three for different reasons. I get asked all the time if it actually works – and the answer is YES! Have you seen my fair skinned husband and babies?! Kidding, but really. It’s fantastic stuff! We’ve used it for several years now, on ALL of us, including both of my pregnancies, and I love that it’s not only safer, cleaner (not full of straight up trash ingredients!), and gentle on my babies’ sensitive skin, but it’s also better for our planet!
BC’s sunscreen is mineral based, uses non-nano zinc oxide meaning it’s not absorbed into your body (which is also why it’s a little thicker than some sunscreens – this is considered a physical sunscreen, as opposed to a chemical sunscreen, so the sunblock sits on top of your skin and helps bounce the sun’s rays away from your skin, instead of allowing your skin to absorb it), doesn’t contain any shady “fragrances” or anything else on our “Never List” like nasty parabens or phthalates, and doesn’t contain oxybenzone or octinoxate – two ingredients KNOWN to not only be harmful to the human body, but also for destroying the ocean’s coral reefs. (You guys, PLEASE just say “no” to any sunscreen you see with either of these ingredients, as well as any that are chemical sunscreens (not clearly labeled as a mineral sunscreen) or contain “fragrance” as a main ingredient. Places like Hawaii and Key West have even gone so far as to ban sunscreens with these ingredients. And most recently, the FDA has finally said they’re going to adopt a stricter standard for sunscreen safety across the board. Plus, the EWG’s skin deep database rates it as a 1!
I’m just going to say it ya’ll – it’s time to hop off the Banana Boat, ditch that Hawaiian Tropic, steer clear of Coppertone and nix the Neutrogena. Of course I’m being broad here, but be sure to check these popular brands’ labels extra closely and make sure you understand what exactly the active ingredients are. You can also look up your existing sunscreen using ewg’s sunscreen guide or skin deep database.
Now the giveaway! To win a full size bottle of our Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion ($39 value!) simply like this post on Instagram, follow me, and tag a friend you want to share this safer sunscreen with!
To increase your chances, make a Beautycounter purchase between today and April 30 at midnight and the dollar amount you spend will equal the number of additional entries you gain! (Spend $30, I’ll mark you down for 30 extra entries!)

I’m so close to reaching a big personal goal this month, and I’d love for your journey towards cleaning up your skincare and beauty routine to begin with safer sunscreen! Switching out your sunscreen this summer is the perfect starting point, and such an easy, and worthwhile swap. Sunscreen, like body lotions and moisturizers are products that sit on your skin for a long time, and are used in much larger quantities than other products. Considering how that translates into your body having more time to absorb whatever’s in those products, and it’s a good idea to make sure it’s a product you can feel good about. 🙂
As always, I really appreciate everyone who has already tried Beautycounter and entrusted me to help you pick out safer options. It is my hope that one day clean beauty will be the norm.
Happy weekend-ing, friends!
