Friday Faves: 28th Birthday, StrongWoman, and LITERALLY the Prettiest Flowers

Happy Friday! Comin’ at ya a bit later than usual, but I wanted to pop in before it was officially the weekend. It’s been another busy week, complete with my 28th birthday! My big 2-8 was yesterday, and today I’m feeling every bit of “late twenties.” I told Adam last night that I was totally cool with 27. We had made peace with each other. It sat nicely right in the middle of mid-twenties and 30. But 28, it’s juuuuuust on the other side, headed straight towards 30 with guns a’blazin! I’m trying to embrace it though, because I have a feeling that 28 might be my favorite year yet! (26 was pretty hard to beat though. You know, the year I gave birth to my favorite tiny human?)

In typical blogger fashion, I’m sharing some of my recent favorites, and simple joys.

  • Adeline’s obsession with books

Adeline has been all about her books lately, and it’s one of my favorite things to watch. Before naps, before bedtime, in the car, in the bath, while I’m in the shower, the girl loves her books! I think we read her entire bookshelf, twice a day. I could probably quote ALL of Elmo’s, “I Love You This Much.”

  • Hobby Lobby pink and gold mugs

A couple weeks ago I stumbled across the CUTEST pink and gold mug display at the Lob Hob. I went back about a week later and grabbed one because I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It’s oversized, thick enough to actually keep my coffee warm, and has the prettiest gold handle.

  • Strength workouts and Alan Thrall YouTube videos

I’ve been incorporating as much strength training as I can during the week, and it FEELS SO GOOD! Adam loves to lift, so he’s been really encouraging me to keep it up. I’m not exactly selling tickets to the gun show yet, but I can already tell a difference in my leg tone, and the overall strength I feel in my arms! (I’ll be sharing a fun 28th birthday inspired workout soon!) One fun thing we’ve been doing together is watching Alan Thrall’s YouTube videos! Alan Thrall is a hilarious Strongman and he makes the best workout videos!

This one made us both laugh:

  • Playtime with Adeline at Share The Love on my birthday

I took the afternoon off work on my birthday so I could do something fun with Adeline. We headed up to our new favorite play place and I loved watching her little legs run wild! There’s not much I’d rather do on my birthday than enjoy some extra time with my girl!

  • Birthday Gerbera Daisies

For my birthday, Adam surprised me with this GORGEOUS bouquet of LITERALLY the prettiest flowers.

Next to Hydrangeas, Gerbera Daisies are my second favorite and the colors are just absolutely beautiful! I hope these blooms stay this vivid all week! He ordered them from bouqs.com and I just can’t get enough!

  • Birthday date night

Adam surprised me with a date night to my favorite Italian restaurant in town, and it was so nice to eat a slow, relaxed meal together! He coordinated our babysitter and everything – husband points! Of course the only picture I took was a Boomerang on the way, but we DID look nice. I even straightened my hair!

  • Kohl’s + Under Armour’s Latest TV Campaign

I don’t know if you’ve caught one yet, but Kohl’s has teamed up with Under Armour on a pretty amazing new campaign. The commercials I’ve seen so far had me googling them right after to re-watch them. They are inspiring, meaningful, and so well done! The three spots I’ve seen so far include a girl’s lacrosse tryout, a new mom heading out for her first postpartum workout, and a new dad heading out for his first jogger run with his new baby. Here’s the lacrosse one, because duh.

Cheers to the weekend! What are you loving this week? Weekend plans?

I loved turning 30! 🙂 My twenties were such a crazy time and I’m happy to be content and peaceful in my 30’s so far.

Happy birthday! I admit I’m glad I was about a million months pregnant when I turned 30, so I hardly noticed 🙂

Happy birthday!! Isn’t approaching milestone birthdays weird? It looks like Adam and A did a great job!

Also, I just cried through “The Comeback” ad. The first time I went somewhere to work out without my little guy, I cried all the way there and all the way back. Wowww motherhood/milestone birthdays/those SWEET BABIES will just wreck your emotions!!

Happy birthday!! I hear ya on feeling a little too close to 30! I don’t feel like I am “almost 30.” When I have patients in their early 20s I try so hard to relate to them only to realize I am so lame to them! Ha!
