Yesterday marked a new era.
I not only worked out on my lunch break for the first time as a remote employee, but I also kept Adeline at home with me all day and lived the life of a WAHM for the first time too! It was as much of a struggle bus as you might imagine, but my saving grace was that she took a 2.5 hour nap in the late morning! Talk about a hail Mary to her mama! I’m going to assume this epic nap was a fluke, but wouldn’t it be nice if she did that every day?!
Adeline will still be going to daycare, but a huge reason I took this new job was for additional flexibility in spending a little extra time with my girly girl during the week if my work load allowed for it. I love that I can now keep her home with me on days when maybe she’s not quite 100% or I just want to have her around.
So now that I’m officially a work from home-er, it means I now have the time to workout again on my lunch break! (Assuming I have time to take a full lunch break, of course!) And really workout. Ya’ll know I attempted to get back into my gym days earlier this spring, but eventually fell out of the habit pretty quickly. Surprise, surprise. This time though, I AM STICKING TO IT SO HELP ME GOD.
I feel so incredibly blessed to now have the flexibility in my full time job to be able to step out my front door at lunch and go for a run or hit the gym. I’m really excited for what my new workout schedule has the possibility to become!
Adam has really been working hard to get in shape, and he typically goes to the gym on his lunch break 4 times a week, and sometimes even goes on the weekends. I feel like we’ve traded places (trading spaces…who remembers that show?!) and now I’m the one cheering him on. But, suffice it so say, he’s really motivating me to get back into a routine of working out on a regular basis. Or at least try to, for what feels like the billionth time since having Adeline. Kudos to those moms who bounce back into marathons weeks after birthing a tiny human.
Yesterday I took Adeline to the lake by our house and we walked/jogged for 30 minutes. Just long enough to work up a sweat!
If we’re being honest, I’m really hoping that adding in some more cardio during the week will help with the jello bowl that is the current situation of my stomach. That and some core work every now then. And I say “every now and then” because if we’re being really honest, I absolutely hate doing core work!
Mid-day exercise does wonders for my mood, and my motivation, and it’s a huge plus to be able to knock it out early. Before Adeline, I wouldn’t mind coming home from work and going straight to the gym, or running at 8pm in the summer. But now, my evenings are oh so precious, and each night they fly by faster and faster that the last thing I want to do is leave to go workout. #becauseolympics #becausenetflix
Fingers crossed I can make this happen!
