An ER Visit, A Long Walk, and Halo Top

This weekend was equally as eventful, as it was uneventful. It got off to a bit of a rough start, but thankfully everything is ok now. It was another weird couple of 70-80 degree days, and we spent as much time as we could either outside, or inside spring cleaning with the windows open. I feel like this crazy weather has me fighting off another cold, and I’m currently doped up on cough syrup so today’s post is going to be short and sweet, a sentence or two per picture style. I’m pretty sure Phil was wrong when he predicted 6 more weeks of winter. It’s been anything BUT winter around here!

Friday afternoon after my last meeting, I walked Adeline down to the playground and let her run wild.

She absolutely loves the playground, and she makes me take her down the slide at least 15 times. She giggles and smiles every time and it’s really just the cutest thing in the entire world.

Friday night we ended up in the ER after Adeline took a tumble and hit her head a little too hard.

She tripped and fell playing in our kitchen curtains and hit the back of her head on the corner of a door frame. It swelled up instantly and turned a pretty shade of blue, and after speaking to our pediatrician’s office they suggested taking her to Children’s ASAP.

The doctor was concerned enough about it to order a CT scan. Adeline was a trooper through the whole thing and after a short wait we were told that everything was a-ok and there was nothing abnormal on the scan. Praise Jesus! I told Adam I’d watched enough Grey’s Anatomy to know to not mess around with head injuries!

Saturday morning a lovely surprise showed up at our doorstep – my Valentine’s flowers from Adam! He tried to replicate my wedding bouquet and did an excellent job. Green hydrangeas are ALWAYS a good idea in my book.

For lunch on Saturday, we met up with Adam’s cousin and Adeline was thrilled for a little extra attention. She is such a ham. And her pants are too short. And that shirt barely buttoned. Someone accidentally forgot to do someone’s laundry. #momfail

Saturday afternoon I took Adeline out for a nice long walk while I chatted on the phone with my mom. We walked for about 45 minutes, and soaked up the sun. I could get used to 80* in February!

Saturday night we indulged in our favorite ice cream, and continued our binge watching of Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. Halo Top is delicious, and so far I think we’ve tried probably 6 different flavors. We’ve been taking turns picking out flavors, but I think S’mores might be a contender for our current favorite. Nothing says romantic date night like splitting a pint of protein-packed ice cream.

Sunday morning, after our usual coffee and cartoons, Adam took Adeline to church and I stayed home to get some extra rest. It was nice having a couple quiet hours with nothing on my to-do list and I did feel quite a bit better by the time they got home. The rest of Sunday was spent doing a whole lot of nothing. Adeline took a 3.5 hour nap, Adam worked in the garage on our new tv stand, and for dinner we headed to small group.

And here we are. 2 kinds of cough syrup, some Advil, and I’m slightly dreading a busy week. BUT President’s Day is coming up which means another short week! WOOHOO!

How was your weekend? Have you taken your little to the ER yet? Halo Top favorite flavor?

So glad Adeline is ok – how scary! *knock on wood* I’ve always joked that we live a block and a half from a hospital just for the head injuries I’m anticipating for our wild man, but I’m so thankful his head doesn’t seem to take the brunt of his falls! Don’t ask me about the scar next to his eye though…

I hope you feel better and have a great week!

Glad your girl was okay! I would have been terrified after that tumble you described. Hope you start feeling better. This weather brought some crazy allergies for me last week and it sucked. Hoping you feel better soon!

Thank you! It was scary for sure – and I felt terrible for even letting it happen under my watch, but what can ya do 😉 toddlers are going to tumble! And I’m feeling a little better – I just wish the weather would make up its mind!
