I received the following product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
It’s no secret that this summer hasn’t exactly been easy. Selling our house, the move, the debacle with closing on our new house (holy nightmare!), then the miscarriage, and then Adeline’s mystery rash kin to hand-foot-mouth. I’m pretty much ready to delete August off the calendar, but you know what? It’s just a season, and we have survived!
We’ve made it through, barely it feels at times, thanks to family, friends, and a lot of self care. I’m a big proponent of taking care of yourself not just when you feel great, but also when you just feel downright exhausted. As a mama to a toddler, self care is especially important because I always want to make sure I’m giving my daughter the best version of myself, even if it’s a slightly less-frazzled version. It can be easy to forget to take care of yourself, and put everyone else first in line, but showing yourself a little extra love can do wonders for your outlook!
The past few weeks I’ve really tried to focus on making time for myself each day, whether that’s walking at the gym in the morning, making an extra solo-Target run during the week, splurging on a deluxe pedicure, investing in some new fancy shampoo and conditioner (anyone else get strangely excited for new toiletries??), better yet actually getting a haircut (WHAT!), and drinking that second, maybe third cup of coffee because #coffeeislife.
Unfortunately, with that second, or third cup of coffee also comes teeth stains. Whomp whomp. I know, I know, there actually is a downside to drinking coffee if you can believe it. I didn’t want to believe it, but when I realized my teeth were looking way more yellow for comfort, I knew it was time to make a decision. Either cut back on coffee and be really sad about it or not cut back on coffee and instead find a way to get rid of the yellow.
So in true coffee lovers’ fashion, I gave my rose to…
Smile Brilliant is a custom teeth whitening service that will leave you wondering why you haven’t been whitening your teeth for years! It’s ridiculously easy, and actually kind of fun to see the stains slowly come off your teeth. In a time when self-care is much needed, treating myself to whiter teeth is like a mini makeover.
So here’s the dill pickle:
(Am I a mom, or am I a mom?)
First and foremost, you need to decide if you fall in the non-sensitive teeth or sensitive teeth category. I have a really sensitive spot along one of my top teeth so I immediately knew I’d need the sensitive set. Basically, the difference is in whether or not you will need desensitizing gel. There’s also a slight cost difference, but it’s well worth it to not have to deal with more sensitivity issues!
Next, Smile Brilliant will mail you your starter set which includes enough putty to create a mold of your top teeth, your bottom teeth, and even extra in case you mess up. You’ll simply follow the detailed (and easy!) instructions, combine the putty, then mash into the provided molds before placing on your teeth to create the perfect replica of your gorgeous (but yellow) teeth. You’ll then let the molds harden, and mail those bad boys back to Smile Brilliant in a pre-paid envelope.
BOOM. Now the hard part is over.
In 3-5 days, or let’s just call it a week, you’ll receive your custom whitening trays back but this time as clear, plastic retainers. Ever seen Invisalign? That’s basically what they look like, but made of a softer and more flexible material. They’ll also come in a nice protective case, so if you’re anything like me and have both a dog and toddler who will eat anything, this case comes in handy.
Now that you have your trays, you can get started! It’s literally as easy as:
- Brush your teeth without toothpaste
- Use syringe to squeeze whitening gel into your trays
- Place on teeth for 45 mins – 3 hours (I did 3o-45 minutes though just because of that really sensitive spot I mentioned)
- Brush your teeth with toothpase
- Rinse out molds and use syringe to squeeze desensitizing gel into trays
- Place on teeth for 15-20 minutes
- Repeat 7-14 times
And there you go!
I’d been wanting to whiten my teeth for a while, but had just never found something that seemed easy enough to be worth it. I honestly think the last time I whitened them was in high school when I was finished with Invisalign. So yea, it’s been a minute! I still have a little bit of gel left, but I’m holding onto it so I can do a few “touchups” later this fall before we do family photos.
Here is my before and after. In full disclosure, these photos were not edited in anyway, and they are in fact, my teeth. The lighting isn’t exactly the same because the before was actually at our old house, but I can guarantee I am impressed with Smile Brilliant and feel like it 100% did its job.
Now, lucky for you, the kind folks at Smile Brilliant have offered to give away a full whitening set to one of my readers! All you have to do to enter is head over to THIS LINK and enter your email to be eligible.
*Giveaway is open for 1 week. Open to USA, UK, Australia, and Canadian residents. Winner will be chosen by Smile Brilliant at random.
