And another weekend has come and gone! This weekend was somethin’ else though – it was Adam’s first Father’s Day!
I can’t even put into words how much he means to our new little family, and the way Adeline looks at him and belly laughs with him is enough to melt my heart into an ooey gooey mess. Those two. Goodness I love ’em!
I wanted to pop in and share the craft that Adeline made for her daddy. It was so much fun helping her with her first art project, and I love how it turned out! She’s pretty much a baby Picasso already. #proudparent
I scoured Pinterest for inspiration, and finally settled on finger painting a photo mat, then framing a photo of the dynamic duo. I figured he could put it on his desk at work, and all the ladies at work could ooh and ahh over how cute they are. (I’m looking at you Kim and Monica 😉 )
I purchased everything at trusty Wal-Mart, and it was incredibly affordable. Budget crafting for the win!
One afternoon last week, I kicked Adam out of the house and we got to work. I taped down a trash bag, then taped down the photo mat so it also wouldn’t move. I then picked out three colors that would blend together easily, and gradually let Adeline stick her hands in the paint then play on the mat. I had to help guide her hands so they didn’t end up in her mouth, but once she started playing in the paint I think she enjoyed it! *Tip: if you’re thinking about doing this, make sure you pick colors of the same family, otherwise they will all blend together and look like poop.
I framed the final product once it dried, and that was that!
To celebrate Father’s Day Sunday, we stuck to our usual game-plan – baby waking at the butt crack of dawn, church, lunch, fussy baby, afternoon nap, fussy baby, bedtime.
How did you celebrate Father’s Day? What did you gift or craft?
In case you missed it – two posts went live this weekend:
