I think I say it every year, but this Easter was my favorite so far! Even though I forgot to order a smocked dress for Adeline to wear, and it kind of breaks my heart thinking about it, I found her the CUTEST floral/tutu dress and I made her wear it all.day.long. because it was just so darn adorable. I often have her in play clothes, or clothes stained from school, or watermelon, or this, or that, so seeing her dressed up all girly girl always gives me the heart eyes. I love dolling her up, and she was so excited to finally wear her special dress. I hope she always loves wearing pretty dresses, but I’m sure the day will come when she’ll turn tomboy on me.
This weekend’s festivities were close to home, so we didn’t have to travel! PRAISE!! I think we’ve travelled every single Easter since we’ve been married, like not even kidding. So being “in town” for Easter was uuuhmazing. I think if we’d had to make the 5-6 hour drive home after we finished up everything today, we would have just keeled over and died.
Highlights from this weekend:
- Baby brother is growing, growing, growing
- Adeline is singing so many fun new songs and reciting books (like Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? “I see Mommy looking at me…” and she goes through everyone she can think of)
- Eating alllll the sweets
- Hunting alllll the eggs at two fun hunts
- When Adeline won a giant duck stuffed animal at the community garden egg hunt
- When Adeline wouldn’t sit still during the puppet show and kept running up in front of the stage
- Watching Adeline’s joy as she’d run and hop to her eggs, “easty eggs!”
- Watching Adeline open her Easter basket when she “accidentally” found it while we were getting ready for church
- A wonderful worship service on Sunday
We spent pretty much the entire weekend with our Ingle family down here in Texas, and Adeline got in lots and lots of cousin time. She wants to be big like them so bad, and sometimes it’s heartbreaking seeing her disappointment. But, she will be big soon enough and I’m so loving all of this 2 business.
We snapped a few nice family photos on Sunday, thanks to my SIL, but other than that, I tried to capture our weekend through my phone, while still trying to soak up all the best moments. I shared several already on Instagram, but I’m keeping the rest of them private for now, stored for the photo books. (Trying to remember what Emily Ley says – not everything has to be shared!) Our family photos make my belly look huge, and now I’m wondering if baby boy is going to be a behemoth child! I’ll be sharing a 18-20 week update this week. Can’t believe we’re already 21.5 weeks!
It still blows my mind to think there’s a tiny person in there, that we can’t even really fathom yet. And this time next year, it will feel impossible to have ever lived without him!
You would not believe how much coercing it took to get this picture before church. It’s all I wanted in the world, but girlfriend was not in the mood. Adeline almost always loves taking pictures, and is super cooperative, but for some reason she just kept saying, “I don’t want to…” We finally were able to crack a smile, after some serious Daddy peek-a-boo. Just a little reminder that there’s always a story behind those “perfect” photos! They don’t always go off without a hitch!
The back of her dress is what really did me in. The delicate criss cross, and her humid curls – SWOON!
How was your Easter? How did you celebrate? (Or not celebrate) Weekend highlight?
