Day 5 & Oiselle Love

Happy Friday! Unfortunately, there is no fun camel for Friday, BUT there is this ridiculously awesome Breaking Bad recap video by Rhett and Link:

Hopefully you checked out yesterday’s photography 101 post on a few things to know about DSLR cameras! I’m excited to get this series rolling, and am hoping to post lesson 2 sometime soon!

Real quick before I get into my actual post, I wanted to share a point I read today in 48 Days To The Work You Love. If  you’ve been following along you know I’ve been reading through Dan Miller’s inspirational book, as sort of a personal journey to figure out some things, and realign my passions with my goals. Instead of doing a full recap of today’s reading, I’ve instead picked out a specific point from this chapter that really stuck out to me, and you other health and fitness bloggers will appreciate it as well!

“The energy and creativity that can come from a sharp mind and body can generate the very ideas you need at this time…Our physical health has a direct relationship to the energy and creativity we bring to our work.”

Agree? Disagree?

I agree with this wholeheartedly. When I make time for myself to exercise, and put my physical well being FIRST, everything else tends to fall into place, and my mind is free and clear of all the junk that was previously clogging it up!

And one last point to get you thinking, since all you bloggers are really entrepreneurs at heart…

I’ll let you sit and stir on that 🙂

And now, let’s chat shopping. Recently I won a gift card from the fabulous company, Oiselle, and I’ve been chomping at the bit to put it to good use! I’ve been having a hard time deciding what to order. Since fall is right around the corner, and even though it will still be hot until October, my decision is a tough one. I jumped on their website this morning and poked around, hoping I would be able to make up my mind. But now, I’m in love with too many things, and it looks like this gift card might actually come with a larger shopping spree than anticipated! Here are some items I’m currently loving and eyeballing…

Oiselle Flyte Tank, $44.00

Oiselle Winona Tank, $48.00

Oiselle Lux Layer, $62.00

Oiselle Distance Short, $39.00

Oiselle Lesley Knicker, $60.00

I just love them all!! Oiselle makes super cute running clothes, with a fun, unique style. A new running store here in town, Rock City Running, recently started carrying Oiselle, so I’m tempted to go to the store and try on a few items to make sure I order the right size! If you’re wondering where a Oiselle dealer is near you, check out their dealer locater page!

I think ordering a new outfit will be just what I need to get my groove back! I’ve been telling myself all week that this week has been a start-over week, and tomorrow I will start fresh, with a clear mind, and FINALLY start my half marathon/marathon training. Bring. It. On.

In case you were wondering, the half I am running is the Soaring Wings Half Marathon in Conway, Arkansas.

And the full I am running is the St. Jude Memphis Marathon in Memphis, Tennessee.

Which piece is your favorite? Is there something else on their website that you’re in love with and I should consider? How are you staying active this weekend?

That long sleeve top is so cute! And I’m always a fan of running capris. I would wear them all the time if I could. Wish I had a gift card…I’d love another excuse to shop!

Kristen- I’m kind of thinking the combo of the long sleeve and the capris might be a winner, but I still am dying over the tanks!

How exciting for your full to be with St. Judes in Memphis! When I worked in radio they flew us up there to visit the hospital and learn how to hold great radiothons! I really need to get on Oiselle website, but I am scared I will overindulge! Have a great weekend!

I too totally agree with that statement. I look at what my life was like before I decided my health was important and I tired all the item and not creative at all. Now it’s the opposite.

I only found out about osielle cause twitter keeps suggesting I become a fan of them. I do like the style. It’s simple and clean, and it looks comfy.

Workout clothes are usually better than some workouts! (Ok maybe not but I love pretty clothes!) I’m a lulemon girl, but I may have to convert after seeing those tops! And those colors! Ah!

This transition has also happened in my household, and we are both determine to put every ounce of extra time we have outside of our current jobs towards our blogs. I am using this weekend to simply relax. I had a 15 mile run on Friday morning, and I feel like my body was just craving a break. I usually take one full rest day each week, but this week I think I needed 2 rest days. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be ready to get back to my workouts!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE that fly tank! I’m checking out their website stat (which might be a horrible idea, since I have a major weakness for running clothes 😛 ). I had never heard of them until Hollie mentioned them last week, but their stuff looks so cute! I don’t think you can go wrong with anything from there based on what I’ve seen thus far 🙂

Adding in a guy’s perspective, I really like the Flyte Tank (cool designs), the Lux Layer (thumb holes are cool) and the Knickers.
I have to say that I wish more cool stores like Oiselle also offered a men’s line.
I recently got a decent amount from LuluLemon (and do really like them) but it seems in the last few years women have really gotten an explosion of great new brands for awesome running apparel!
It’s all good.. just is what it is.
They have some great stuff and I don’t think you can go wrong.

That’s so cool that you are doing the Memphis Marathon!
That was my first Full.. and you never forget your first J
It is a really good race, but I will say that the 2nd half is definitely tougher than the 1st so don’t go out too fast when it is easier in the beginning.
Excited to read about your training for it (and your upcoming Half)!

Chris- Thanks for stopping by Chris!! I always love new comments and readers, and now a guy!! Whoohoo!! I think those are my three favorites as well 🙂 That would be awesome if they made men’s apparel..we should suggest that! And I think that’s true..women seem to get priority sometimes 🙂 Thanks for the advice about Memphis, that is really good to know!!
