Currently Loving: February 2016

Happy Tuesday!

Popping in today to share a few things I’m currently loving. None of them are fitness related, but who’s really surprised? I think it’s still going to be a bit longer before I get myself back into a solid workout routine, or like I mentioned yesterday, at least until the sun is out longer at night and Adeline and I can start taking nightly walks or jogs! So for now, I’m enjoying hibernating and being productive in other areas of life. I’ve shared several of these things in one way or another, but thought I’d wrap them all together in one happy little post!

Here are my current fun finds and obsessions:

Passy Clips on Etsy

I stumbled upon these on Instagram a while back, and finally ordered one for Adeline recently. They are handmade, and I love the look of them. I also love that since they aren’t fabric, I’m thinking they won’t harbor as many germs. I ordered the basic tan one, but am already thinking about ordering one in grey and light pink! Just call Adeline a baby hipster because that’s totally how she looks when she uses it.

Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Be still my heart!!! I’m really not sure why I’m just now coming around to trying these, but Adam brought them home one night from the store and I’ve been hooked ever since! If it weren’t for the price, I would buy ALL THE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS IN THE LAND. They are amazing. Way better than Reese’s, AND organic, AND dark chocolate.

Beautycounter Skincare

I recently had a good friend share Beautycounter products with me for the first time. I’m obsessed, and genuinely support this amazing new company! They have banned more than 1,500 ingredients that are either known toxins or linked to all sorts of health problems. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I eat to better fuel my body and to help Adeline grow big and strong, so it’s about time I start thinking more about what I put on my skin, since what goes on my skin, inevitably ends up on Adeline! They also have a kids line that I’m excited to try! If you’ve never heard of the EWG, you should go to ewg.org and enter in a few of your daily products. You might be surprised at how terrible they actually are!

Baby Bling Bows & Headbands

I also found out about these through Instagram – and I am wishing I’d found them sooner! They are made of a cool stretchy, also meshy fabric that “grows with your child.” I love the look of headwraps, and Adeline is finally big enough to rock them. I ordered these three basic colors to test them out, and I have a feeling I’ll be ordering more, and gifting them to fellow mom friends!

The New Mother Syndrome

My mom let me borrow this book that a friend gifted her in the 80’s after she had my brother and I. I think I’ve been pretty open and honest about how hard of a time I’ve had since having Adeline. Aside from a difficult physical recovery, I know I’ve had a really hard time feeling emotional “right” and just really, feeling crazy more than I expected. Even though people warned me about the Baby Blues and PPD, I still think it’s something that’s not talked about enough. I genuinely think I’ve hung onto the Baby Blues way longer than I ever imagined, and even though I know I’m certainly not dealing with PPD, I do think postpartum stress and anxiety is a real thing, and can be so exhausting. Anyways, I’ve already read the first few chapters in this and I’m excited to really dive in and more than anything just have my feelings validated and know that it’s normal to still feel slightly out-of-whack, especially since I’m still nursing.

Day Designer

I know I’ve mentioned this several times on Instagram, but I LOVE my Day Designer! It has been a lifesaver for this new working mom! My brain is for sure still mush, so being able to easily outline my day and have a clear space for my to-do list has been fantastic!!

This.

I died laughing when this came across my FB feed the other day. I don’t share these ridiculous memes and infographics often, but this one was spot on. Also, who doesn’t love an extra reason to look at Leo?

Those Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups are THE BEST! Thank goodness they are expensive or I would be buying them all the time. Such a great splurge.

I’m sorry you are still dealing with the baby blues. I think a lot of women experience these feelings on and off throughout the first year. I definitely have little bouts of depression and blues on and off, more noticeably during the week when I am all alone with Axel. Whenever other people are around or Justin is home, I feel a lot happier. It’s nice to know that I am not alone and that other women are willing to open up. I agree, it is not discussed as openly as it should be. Hang in there mama – you are not alone. <3

Oh my goodness yes, I noticed it MUCH more on the days I was home with her all day long. Being back at work has helped for sure, but it still comes and goes in weird waves! Thanks, friend!

I have the cutest leather paci clips for my girls, and NEITHER of them ever took a paci, haha! Oh well, maybe baby #3 😉

And good for your for recognizing your BB/PPD – it feels like F O R E V E R when you’re going through it, but I promise you’ll come out on the other side soon! 🙂

Bahaha maybe baby #3! Everly and Eleanor not paci girls? That’s probably a good thing! I’m afraid Adeline is going to be a BIG paci girl!

I didn’t realize that they’ve changed the term to “postpartum mood disorders” rather than postpartum depression, and every mom experiences different symptoms — until I went to the doctor. It’s good that you’re talking about it! Medicine (only 5 mg) has made a huge difference in how I feel, but I know that just talking about it, and exercise, is so helpful too!

Oh yeah, mine was bad until I finally saw the doctor at 2 1/2 months postpartum. I was hesitant to admit I needed help, but I’m glad I went. Email me anytime!! This isn’t talked about enough!

I’ve been wanting to try those Justin’s peanut butter cups! They look so good. And that planner is super cute. I have to physically write everything down in order for me to remember stuff haha.

I’m sure A would love her own leather Passy Clip!! 🙂 I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling with the blues. It’s just frustrating because everything I read says it’s like only within the first few weeks, but it’s so not!

I’m still hanging onto the blues as well and going back to work has heightened things a bit, well, the first two weeks. This week I’m starting to feel better but I did get a referral to go talk to someone. I think just venting is what I need!

I’ve been loving Celestial Sleepy Time tea…drinking some now. It’s so good and just helps get me calm and ready for bed especially after a long day at work.
