Hello again! How was your Christmas?? We spent the past 5 days or so back home with my side of the family in TN, and I’m so thankful we were able to witness little Henry’s first Christmas! Even though he won’t remember it, I know we all will! It was such a special few days, and the older I get the more I appreciate these long days spent with family. We got in town Christmas Eve, and were able to catch up with my parents before we all went to bed. Christmas morning was spent at my parent’s house, and my brother and sister-in-law, Henry, and my grandparents, all came over to start the day with brunch. I made a delicious breakfast casserole, which I’ll be sharing the recipe for sometime soon! After we took some group photos, and ate until we couldn’t anymore, my grandparents headed home and we all stayed to begin the gifting! If we hadn’t received any physical gifts this year, I would have been fine just watching my family interact with Henry for hours upon hours. No amount of presents can replace the gift of time spent with the people you love the most.
After we were finished unwrapping, we headed over to my grandparent’s house for dessert and round 2 of gifts. My grandparents live about 3 miles from my parents, so growing up it was always a huge blessing to have them so close. My grandmother made a huge spread of sweet treats, and we all had a blast watching them unwrap their gifts (even though they always say they don’t want anything) and ooh and ahh over Henry. I can’t imagine the joy they feel in being great grandparents.
Christmas night, we went back to my parent’s house, and opened our stockings. At one point Henry crawled over and plopped down in Adam’s lap, and it was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I think he’s really going to love his Uncle Adam, and I can’t wait to see what kind of adventures they go on.
Here are a few of my favorite snapshots from Christmas Day 2014 – Pence style.
My mom makes little ham and cheese rolls every Christmas morning for breakfast. They are to die for!
We were so excited to receive some new camping gear!! I can’t WAIT to go camping this spring!!!
Merry Christmas!! (A little late)
I’ve got 13 days until the WDW Marathon, and I’m SO excited to finally get this show on the road! I signed up last April, and it’s hard to believe it’s finally almost here. To say I’m undertrained would be a massive understatement, but I know that we will still do fine! This race is all about the experience, and I’m determined to soak up every minute, take as many pictures as I can, and cross that finish line with a smile on my face!! I’m definitely getting back to the gym hard this week, and hopefully crank out a few more last minute workouts!
It’s back to the work week now though, and a part of me is excited that all of the holiday rush is over. I think I’m craving getting back on track, and finally being done with traveling for a while. Except for the marathon of course, but flying is a different story. I’m anxious to sit down and calculate how many hours we spent DRIVING in 2014, I have a feeling it was an insane amount.
Anyways, have a great day!
