Thank you for the comments on my last post. It was definitely a wake up call to be even more aware of where she is at all times. Thankfully she was ok, and we can all move on. Ironically, we actually had a security system installed on Monday, and it will alert us when a door is opened. I’m actually really excited to get home and start playing with it!
So, if you didn’t already know, I’m traveling this week for work. Which means two things, 1. I’m soaking up lots of adult time and 2. I got to pack my new favorite toiletry bag.
I’ve previously posted about Carri Eight and loved their innovative picnic basket. I still use it on road trips when I need an easy way to keep Adeline’s milk cool or store extra cold snacks. Now, I wanted to share their Sketched Dots Travel Pouch.
I’m always on the hunt for a good toiletries bag since we tend to travel quite a bit. (But, now that we’re closer to part of our family, we won’t be making near as many road trips!) I love having a place to keep everything together, but separated. And since I flew this weekend, I was super excited to really load it up and get some great use out of it!
The bag has a handle on one side, as well as two zippers making two compartments, perfect for dividing up your travel necessities. I like to divide mine into ‘hard’ or ‘soft’, i.e. shampoo/conditioner/contact stuff/glasses vs. hair ties/headbands/face wipes/etc.
The material of the bag feels high quality, just like the picnic basket. It’s sleek and slick, making it easy to clean up should anything leak. Plus, the pattern is adorable and timeless. You can’t go wrong with polka dots!
I brainstormed a few additional uses for the bag, aside from storing your own toiletries. Here’s what I’m thinking:
- Diaper Kit for the Car – you could load it up with extra diapers, wipes, and diaper cream for when you’re out and about and need to make a quick change. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used my “emergency car diaper” while out running errands!
- Snack Bag for Road Trips – this bag would make a great place to store small snacks like crackers or pouches for when you’re on the road. You could put snacks on one side and wet wipes and a bib on the other.
- Toiletries for the kids – having a place to keep all your kid’s toiletries will make your life so much easier! I keep all of Adeline’s medicines, prescriptions, etc. in one little pouch in her room just so I know where everything is. But if you’re traveling with multiple kiddos, this bag would make a great place to store it all.
This marks my second work trip as a working mom, and it’s such a catch 22. On one hand, I love having adult time, and getting to see coworkers and friends. But on the other hand, it’s gut wrenching to be away from Adeline and hear her asking for “Mommy” over the phone. I know it’s good for all of us – I think it’s perfectly healthy to spend a little time apart every now and then. I’m trying to soak it up as a mental break. I’m off mom-duty. I’m not in charge of anyone but myself this week. And you know what? It’s quite refreshing! But, I get home on Friday, and I can guarantee this next weekend will be a cuddle fest!
What’s your go-to toiletries bag? Do you like using your bags for different occasions? What usage occasion might you use this bag for?
