Can I Just Dance My Half Marathon?

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Half Marathon #7 is tomorrow. Tomorrow is D-Day. The eagle has landed. Houston we have a problem.

If you read yesterday’s post, then you know that I’m not feeling 100% at the moment, and I’m a little iffy on how I’m going to feel in the morning before the race. So, I’ve decided that if I do wake up and feel awful, that I’ll just…

dance my half marathon!

Happy music can do wonders, so I’ve put together a playlist that’s sure to take my mind off of my swollen sinuses and get me across the finish line with a smile on my face! These songs have all been on my recent playlist at one point or another, and it’s a pretty eclectic mix of somewhat current songs that get me moving. Hopefully you’ll enjoy a song or two!

I’ve got about as many dance moves in my repertoire as Taylor Swift, so it’s safe to say that my dancing skills typically only make an appearance at wedding receptions when the peer pressure is just too much to resist. Always worth it though.

I’m trying to stay positive about tomorrow’s race, and just have fun with it! The weather is supposed to be in the 50’s at start time, so basically perfect! At this point, I’m okay with not PR’ing, but just getting across the finish line in one piece would be a success. Apologies in advance for any snot rockets my fellow runners have to witness.

What would you add to the list? Have you ever run a big race when you knew you weren’t feeling your best? What is your best dance move?

Good luck! Dancing across the finish line is probably the best way to cross it 🙂 Have fun!

OH girl, when my music gets old it’s the worst! Sometimes you just need a whole new playlist and all new jams to get your groove on!

Oh, Lord! I hadn’t even thought about the snot rockets yet, Sarah! Mine will be all over the place because my allergies/sinuses have decided to rear their ugly heads over the past 24 hours; good thing you are faster than I am – ha! 😉 Thank you for the playlist reminder – GAH! I’m so far behind! I so hope that I see you tomorrow; I know the crowd will be thick, so be on the look out! I’ll have my phone, and I know we are Twitter-connected, so that’s good. Take care of yourself and you are going to do GREAT!! I’m so excited for you!

I absolutely LOVE “Shut Up And Dance.” I’ve been belting it out at least once every morning on my commute to work and currently have it on my running playlist!

Ugh girl, I feel you. I was sick 2 weeks ago with a cold/sinus inflammation right before my marathon. Loads of rest, tea, and homeopathic immune boosters helped me feel good on race day but still. Sleep, fuel up, and take some echinacea and Vit C!

I have exactly 0 dance moves, but I do think that your playlist would get me through a tough run. Those are some great dance/running tunes.

Great playlist – you’ll rock it tomorrow! And I can totally relate about my (very, very limited) dance skills only making an appearance at weddings. Even then, if my boyfriend didn’t drag me, I’d probably never make it on the dance floor!
