This weekend was spent visiting my side of the family in TN to celebrate our nephew’s third birthday! As usual, the weekend turned into a whirlwind of family visits, coordinating nap times, and squeezing in a long overdue date night thanks to some very willing grandparents. Adeline was a trooper all weekend. She is such a great little travel buddy and I’m so proud of how she adjusts and rolls with the punches. (Unlike her mother sometimes.) We started traveling with her at just 9 weeks old, so to say she’s accustomed to the car would be an understatement. It’s definitely hard being away from family, but having a little one who makes traveling somewhat painless has been a huge blessing! On the way to Nash we only stopped once, and same on the way home. We pack lots of snacks, and car entertainment, and try to time the first long stretch with her biggest nap, and so far it seems to be working in our favor. #knockonwood
Since it’s Monday, I’m thinking a quick sentence-or-two-per-picture ought to sum up our weekend happenings quite nicely. So let’s get to it…
Our nephew’s party was at a trampoline park. Adeline loved it for the most part, but was a little hesitant when it would start to get crowded. The play area they were in was for ages 7 and under, so I think the big kids scared her.
Henry seemed to have the time of his life, and I still can’t believe he is THREE. I feel like he was just born, like, yesterday. Love him so much!!
While the big kids enjoyed their pizza party and cupcakes, Adeline (aka Miss No-Nap) chilled in her stroller and took in the scenes.
Little brother hasn’t gotten much blog time yet! It was so good to see sweet Sutton – he’s gotten so big since Christmas!
On the way up for her nap after the party, Adam helped her scope out the backyard. I miss this view all the time!
While Adeline napped, my mom and I went shopping to get Adeline some spring play clothes. This went undocumented, of course, but I’m so glad we were able to spend a couple hours just the two of us. Sometimes you just need to go shopping with your mom!!
When we got home, Adam and I got ready and headed out for a date night. Hows abouts thats! Always. Take. Advantage. Of. Grandparents! I think we cleaned up pretty nicely!
We ate dinner at Gray’s, one of my faves! Adam had a ribeye and au gratin potatoes, and I had cheesy grits and sweet potato ravioli. It was all divine, and we took our sweet time eating every last bite. It’s amazing how you get used to eating SO FAST when you have a kid.
After dinner, we meandered down Main Street like the good ‘ole days, then popped into Kilwin’s for some ice cream. It was like we were on a real date or something! 😉
We talked about going to see a movie, but I’m so old and lame now I couldn’t even tell you what movies are out. And I think I would just fall asleep anyways!
My mom was able to get Adeline to bed while we were out so when we got home we played a game, watched tv, and ate even more empty calories.
Sunday morning, we headed to church, and attempted a family photo.
Neither of which turned out amazing. I believe we have passed the days where taking pictures with Adeline is a breeze.
Adeline wore her new white shoes to church, and contrary to how it appears she actually was in a great mood at church! She did so good! I’m always a little nervous how she’ll do at my parent’s church because it’s quite a bit more “quiet” than our church in AR, but she was very well behaved!
Can we just call it quits on Winter? Like are we done with it? It’s spring now, right?
After we packed up to leave, Adeline got to check out P Daddy’s truck!
She’s a natural! 15 more years and maybe she’ll have a truck of her own! Or judging by my dad’s history with trucks, she might get this one!
On the drive home, we stopped in Memphis at Panera to stretch our legs and pick up some lunch. Adeline has (in my eyes) turned into a full fledged LITTLE GIRL. She’s huge. It’s like she’s a little person now and not at all a baby. It’s mind blowing. When Adam was walking her inside I couldn’t help but think how crazy it was that she’s big enough now to WALK PLACES. LIKE AN ACTUAL PERSON! WHHHAAAATTTT!
So anyways, at this particular Panera they had a children’s play area and it was adorable! There was a bookshelf, a play kitchen, and these tiny chairs! How precious is that?? It was the perfect place to let her run off some energy. Kudos to you, Panera!
It was a wonderful weekend, but it sure feels good to be home after traveling two weekends in a row. Adeline was extra snuggly at bedtime tonight, and I loved it. She is such a mama’s girl right now, but I know one day that will change. Every single time she reaches out for me, or clings to me because she doesn’t want to leave, I feel my heart grow 10 sizes bigger than I ever thought possible.
I feel like I have so much to talk about this week! This seems to be a busy stage of life currently, so I’ll be back several times this week probably!
How was your weekend? Do anything fun? The big LR Marathon was this weekend – did you run?
I changed my name on Instagram to reflect my blog name…still not sure how I feel about it though. I’ve always just gone by my personal name. Blog friends – do you go by your name name or your blog name? Why or why not? I have different thoughts on both scenarios.
