We’re quickly approaching 38 weeks, which means it’s probably time to wrap up the nursery and do a quick reveal! We actually just finished it this week, and I can’t believe I even waited this long. But, it’s true what they say about second pregnancies – you just don’t have the same energy as you did the first time around. You also just have a better idea of what you actually need in the nursery, and for me at least, I decided to simplify and not stress.
Barrett’s nursery came together perfectly though, and it’s for the most part, what I envisioned it being. It’s simple, soothing, and comfortable feeling. I was super picky about what we hung, and how we decorated, so it might seem plain to some people but for us it’s just right. I really didn’t want it to feel like Hobby Lobby or Pinterest exploded, and I wanted to leave room to add things like photos and special knick knacks here and there. I mean, we don’t even know who he IS yet, and I can’t wait to personalize his special space more as we get to know him. (I’m dying to order him THIS rocking horse from PB!)
So for colors, we stuck with the basics – neutral beige/white and navy blue. We re-used Adeline’s crib and changing table, and only had to buy the dresser (IKEA) and glider (buybuy BABY). We purchased his shag rug, cowhide fur, blackout curtains, nightstand, and a few storage boxes.
I wanted the theme of his room to basically be, no theme. I mean I guess the color scheme is a theme, or the fact that there’s a giant cowhide on the wall makes it look theme-ish, but overall I tried to steer clear of an exact theme. (Barrett will be the first Ingle to be born in Texas!) I didn’t want to go down the route of committing to dinosaurs, or trucks or cars, or man-cave, or what have you, because I figure we’ll get there eventually once we know what he likes!
So, here are a few snapshots of his room – all we’re missing still is the ottoman for the glider (on backorder), a newborn canvas (for wall near door that you can’t see), and a family maternity photo for the frame on his dresser (ordering asap!).
Oh, and him!!
We’ll see you soon little guy!
