Back to the Basics: Reestablishing my Cardio Base

Monday night I was able to sneak off to the gym again for another workout. Praise!!

I only had about 30 minutes or so before I knew Adeline would need to start getting ready for bed, so I hopped on the bike for a quick cardio session!

Getting back into shape postpartum is going to be a long journey. It took me 9+ months to fall out of shape, so I should expect it to take at least that long to reestablish the fitness level I was at! I’m hoping though to expedite this process a little bit by really working hard at nailing down a solid cardio base first.

Besides taking Adeline on walks, I know I need to try and get to the gym at least once a week for a tough, sweat-filled cardio workout. Not only will it help make getting back into running shape easier, but getting some stress out in the form of sweat is always a good idea!

I felt pretty strong for my second postpartum gym workout, and felt like I could keep going once my time was up. I don’t want to over do it though, or be too sore the next day since I’m using muscles that haven’t seen the light of day in quite a while! This time around I rode for 30 minutes, gradually bumping up the resistance from about 4-11.

I wore a couple new items I picked up at Target. I have always been a huge fan of Target’s line of C9 by Champion and think cute workout clothes make all the difference! Ok maybe not just cute, but properly fitting workout clothes! Most of my tops are still a little too snug (hello breastfeeding!), and I haven’t even tried on any of my capris except my lulu wunder unders, so I was in desperate need of a few items I could wear in the meantime. Plus I needed a new sports bra, because once again, breastfeeding equals huge boobs that no longer fit in anything! I’m still getting used to buying tops in size medium and large, instead of extra small and small. Amazing how much things change!

The capris were super comfortable, and moisture wicking, along with the top. I love the stripe detail and how the back is cut slightly longer.

You can find the top HERE, and the capris HERE.

Target has a boat load of super cute workout gear currently, and after Christmas I’m itching to go back and scoop up a few more things! Loving this pullover – and it has monkey holes which makes it basically perfect.

On another note, IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Favorite workout for easing back into shape? Do you own any of Champion’s workout gear? What are your Christmas plans?

Oh girl.. the boobs. I completely hear ya! Most of my tops just don’t fit because of my larger chest. Makes me sad, lol! I got tons of new workout clothes for Christmas (which I purchased myself, lol, but they were from Aaron!). They were all from Wal Mart! They have super cute stuff in their Avia line and it’s so much cheaper. I wore basically all my same workout gear while pregnant and they are just gross and I needed new stuff! lol not to mention it has me wanting to work out! I think you have a great plan to get back into prepregnancy shape. It’s gonna be a long journey! (At least for me, lol)
