Happy Friday! Anyone else excited it’s the weekend so they can put their Christmas tree up early? Surely I’m not the only one. We’ve got plans to put our tree up, decorate our mantle, and attend a local Christmas tree lighting, so I guess you can say we’re getting into the holiday spirit around here!
One of the best parts about a baby’s first year of life is exactly that – the firsts! First time they sleep through the night, first time they smile, first time they rollover, first time they sit up, first time they crawl, first time they walk, first tooth. The list of firsts could go on and on, but my favorite firsts of them all? Holidays! Every first holiday is extra special and memorable with a baby. I always loved holidays, pre-kids, but after kids my love of holidays has skyrocketed. There’s something purely magical about seeing a holiday through your child’s eyes. The wonder, the joy, the excitement, ah it’s just everything.
Since B was born in August, the only holiday he’s gotten to experience so far is Halloween. But, my two favorite holidays of the year are on the horizon and I can’t WAIT to celebrate them with him. Thanksgiving and Christmas combined make up my favorite season of the year – the holiday season! Why is it that we call every holiday a “holiday”, but refer to Thanksgiving through the New Year as “the holidays”? I’ll never know, but I love it, and that’s all that matters. This year’s holiday season is going to be magical in more ways than one. Literally. This is our first holiday season as a family of four, where we’ll get to experience all the joy and magic with two kids, and show our sweet son what the holidays are all about. I’d say we’re doubling the excitement around here. As a first time mom, I thought celebrating our daughter’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas was the best thing ever, but I have a feeling celebrating my son’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas is going to be just as sweet. And celebrating another first holiday season means another round of picking up all the “first” baby gear and meaningful items that I can get my hands on!
Lately we’ve been doing a lot of our baby shopping at buybuy BABY, for obvious reasons, but also because they have a huge selection of fun “baby’s first” items and unique toys in general that will make perfect gifts this year. Now that Babies ‘R’ Us is out of business, buybuy BABY is really the go-to destination for all things baby, plus they even have toys that are perfect for toddlers. Santa should take note because they’ve really got it all. A went with me recently on a buybuy BABY run to pick out some “first” items for B and she made sure to show me all the things she’s hoping Santa will bring her too. I’ve been so focused on baby brother’s needs that I hadn’t really noticed all of the great educational and “big kid” toys they stock until now, so it was fun seeing her point them out and try them out in the store. Needless to say, buybuy BABY isn’t just for babies, which is a huge plus for busy moms of multiples because you can easily kill two birds with one stone!
Here’s what we picked up on our most recent haul for baby brother. I can’t wait to get his picture with every single item as we commemorate more first holidays!
First up, this easy kit for making a handprint ornament. I mean, obvious choice here. What better way to remember their first Christmas than with their tiny baby fingers?
Next up, a bib for every occasion. Did baby’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas really happen if you don’t have a bib saying it did? I think not. I’m picturing chunky naked baby rolls underneath, and dying a little inside. You can find the My First Christmas bib set here and My First Thanksgiving bib here.
Baby’s first Christmas book! I couldn’t resist going with a Texas themed book since B is the first family member of ours to be a natural born Texan! It’s kind of a fun little fact, so I’m a sucker for little baby Texas things.
Baby’s first rattle! Also, his first Rudolph toy because it’s a staple Christmas character.
Lastly, baby’s first Santa suit and Christmas outfit for church. This candy cane striped coverall is from Burt’s Bees, has a hood, is fleece lined, and is juuuuust about the cutest thing ever. He’s going to look so dapper I just know it. However, I think the baby Santa suit might actually be the. cutest. thing. ever. What do you think?
Staahhhp it. I can’t even. Can he wear this every single day leading up to Christmas? I would not be opposed! If I didn’t know better, I wouldn’t even be able to spot the difference between B and ‘ole Kris Kringle himself. All B needs is a beard, which if he’s anything like his father, shouldn’t be an issue. He is an Ingle, after all.
Baby B, we can’t wait to wrap up our best year yet celebrating your first Thanksgiving and Christmas with you! I know it’s going to be magical, memorable, and sweet as the pecan pie I plan on stuffing my face with!
Before I go, here are a few of the “big kid” toys A picked out that I mentioned earlier. Grandparents – take note!
I’ll be back soon to share another roundup of stocking stuffers we’ve since gathered for B from buybuy BABY, as well as some ideas for your own baby’s stocking stuffers.
Do you shop at buybuy BABY? Did you know they carried more than just 0-12 month toys? Have you started Christmas shopping? Do you like to “go all out” for baby firsts?
