Baby Ingle: Nursery Inspiration – Neutral or Bust

As I start to think about what Baby Ingle’s nursery will look like, I’m A. overwhelmed and B. so incredibly excited and just tickled to death it’s not even funny!

I’ve always been a big fan of neutrals when it comes to nurseries, and I’d prefer to stay away from the typical blue/pink walls and the mixed bright colors you sometimes see on Pinterest. I have no interest in there being 50 million bright colors in the nursery, and would much rather it be more more toned down, subdued, and relaxing! But, to each their own, right? That could very well be boring to 99% of the population 🙂 I also don’t want to have to paint the nursery again whenever we decide to move, which will inevitably be within the next 1-2 years, most likely.

So, with that said, I’ve decided on a very neutral light tan/beige/taupe color for the walls, with lots of white accents, and just enough splashes of whatever the baby’s gender happens to be. I think bringing in extra color through the curtains and little knick-knacks will help bring it all together. I’m envisioning simple, yet cute, and maybe erring more on the rustic side to go along with the rest of the house. Even as a little girl growing up, I was never the girliest girl, more so a tomboy, so the idea of making the nursery frilly and froo-froo and overly “baby”, still turns me off, so I think I’d like a nursery that’s got a hint of maturity to it, while still being cozy and charming for the little one! Does that even make sense?? I guess what I’m saying is I don’t want a nursery that looks like Babies R Us exploded and the color palette is rainbow. (Though if your nursery is full of bright colors, you do you girlfriend! I’m just not as brave as you!)

Here’s an inspiration board I made from images I pinned recently on Pinterest:

I’m still going back and forth on whether I want to go with a brown crib or white crib. One of the major piece of furniture that will be in the room will be a large oak armoire that I grew up with in my room. But even though it will be brown, I’m kind of leaning towards a white crib and white changing table, with a neutral/beige glider? That bedroom doesn’t get a lot of natural sunlight during the day, so I think using more white or lighter furniture will help brighten it up.

Speaking of changing tables, I’m hoping to get Adam to actually build one and then paint it white/distress it. Something like this…

I’m also on the hunt for the perfect large white shag rug. I found one at Home Goods like two months ago and ALMOST bought it, but talked myself out of it. I bet it’s gone now, but if you find an affordable one somewhere (think like, $50??) send it my way!

And do you see those little baby animal prints in the bottom of the collage? Those are from The Animal Print Shop, and I’ve had it bookmarked as an idea for a nursery for years!!!! Seriously, I had almost forgotten about them until I saw them again on Pinterest! They are so cute, and there are tons of little animals to choose from. LOVE. At least one little guy will have to make an appearance in the nursery! Ok, just humor me, how cute are this little raccoon and bear cub???

Precious, just precious.

Anyways, I’ll get back to daydreaming about the nursery that I probably won’t even start until later this summer!

I’ll have a 17 week update coming up in a day or two! Our “weeks” change on Sundays, but it always takes me a while to gather my notes from the week and take a decent picture!

Also, not too much exercise going on around here, other than (almost) daily long walks. Follow me on Instagram if you want to keep up!

Happy Wednesday!

I’m all about neutral, we did grey walls with a nautical accents that way if we have one or the other it wont’ be too ‘girly’ or too ‘rough and tumble boyish’..I’m just super anti-gender specific..lol…I love the looks of what you pinned…sooo perfect!!!

I’m all about the neutral too. Mainly just because the practical side of me is always thinking one step ahead into how quickly rooms can get turned into offices, guest rooms, or ANOTHER babies room, so I hate to go too extreme on paint and/or major decor!

Love these ideas! I might be stealing them 😉 I keep getting so overwhelmed with a nursery that I haven’t even looked too much. I’m waiting to find out the gender. I do think I’ll be adding in blue or pink in the walls, but that’s still up for debate. I DID decide on white furniture! haha I’m using a dresser as a changing table so it’s really just a crib and dresser I think I need 🙂 Probably a bookshelf for toys and such, too. My weeks change on Tuesdays and it usually takes me a while to get them up, too! I was on top of things yesterday lol

I really love the neutral color scheme as well, especially when you can put in pops of color. That way you can just change out certain aspects if you get tired of them and don’t need to re-do the entire nursery 🙂

I love that neutral theme too girl! I think we are sticking to white/light walls and then our color scheme is grey, white and pops of navy 🙂 Maybe a little brown thrown in there for good measure too!

We’re on the same page! We will be moving in 1-2 years too, so I’m going neutral. I’m doing all white and beige with some colors. I’m thinking “woodland” themed, but TBD based on the sex!

I love the neutral palette! I don’t mind blues so much for the boys because blue is my favorite color, but all the pink with girls just kills me! I really absolutely love that sign “let her sleep for when she wakes she will move mountains.” Can I just get that for my room please? ; )

I like the neutrals too! The funny thing is, I was all about the neutrals until our ultrasound confirmed that we’re having a girl — there’s a lot of pink on my registry! I’m a pink, girly-girl, though, so I guess it makes sense for my personality! I think we’re going to paint the walls a shade of green or blue, and then accent with coral, pink and green. I found some bedding that ties everything together, so hopefully I can pull it off!
