Christmas was absolutely wonderful, and I will always remember and cherish my first Christmas as a mom. I think Adeline loved it as well, and I know each year from here on out is only going to get better! Because I took 10 million photos over the weekend and it will take me a year to get a blog post up about it, I thought I’d start with one of Adeline’s gifts!
I don’t get crafty too often, but when I do it’s when I have barely 5 minutes to myself, a fussy 6 week old, a memory the size of a pea, and all while running on no sleep. Worth it. Since our families all live far away, I wanted to make Adeline something that would help her learn everyone’s names and faces easily, and be fun at the same time. I love reading to her, and so far, she loves looking at books, so I thought a family photo book would be perfect.
I’ve become a seasoned pro at making photo books on Shutterfly (cheap, quick, easy, great quality). So with what little time I had, I snagged up a ‘free 8×10 photo book’ coupon, picked out a beyond simple and plain layout, and as recent-as-I-could-find photos of our immediate family members. I wanted the book to be super easy for her to see, and have lots of bright colors that would capture her attention. Here’s how it turned out:
The first page has two family group shots from around this time last year. I figured that way she could clearly see who’s on which side.
Each page after that has a headshot of a family member, with their name directly underneath. Easy peasy.
I didn’t do a very good job of planning the order of photos, so it looks like my dad and Adam’s mom go together. Whoops! She’ll figure it out though!
I made sure to include a page for Adeline’s great grandparents as well. It definitely made me sad to leave out our grandmothers who had passed, since I know they would have just adored our sweet girl.
And the last page is just a few pictures of her cousins. Two group shops of all the Ingle cousins, and two extra shots of Henry from my side.
I’m excited for when Adeline will be able to start pointing to and recognizing her family members, and learning to say their names! But for now, I’m perfectly content with her staring at the pictures while she lays next to me on her play mat.
As soon as I get a chance I’ll be back with my Christmas photo dump and recap! Also on my agenda: a roundup of what we use most with Adeline, my New Year’s Resolutions, a few protein bars/powders, a recipe post featuring Chobani (if I can get my butt in gear), and a fitness update! At least that’s my plan. The 9 week old sleeping next to me may alter things a bit!
