Adeline Does Franklin: Baby’s 2nd Road Trip

This weekend was all kinds of wonderful. There’s nothing better than spending time with family and friends, showing off your sweet little babe. There aren’t enough words to describe how great our weekend was so I’ll keep it short. Prepare for a photo dump! Also, if anyone would be interested in hearing my tips for road-tripping with baby, let me know! Now that we’ve done it twice, we’re basically seasoned pro’s, right?

So we left after work on Thursday, figuring Adeline would sleep the whole way since she’d be exhausted after daycare. We got on the road around 7 pm and girlfriend slept the ENTIRE 5 hours! We made it to my parent’s house at exactly midnight, with only one stop halfway for gas and a bathroom break. AMAZING. I was so proud of my sweet, sleepy lady! The only downside – when we got there and got her out of her carseat, she decided it was party time. I ended up sleeping with her in the recliner for a couple hours until she finally passed out and I transferred her to the rock n play.

Friday consisted of hanging out at home, showing her Downtown Franklin and my dad’s office, and meeting a few of my best friends, as well as my grandparents. I grew up hanging out downtown, walking and shopping along Main Street, and have always dreamed of the day I’d get to walk my own daughter around and show her my favorite little shops and restaurants! Still totally surreal, and weird let’s be honest, but my heart had so much fun strolling along “showing” her one of my favorite places on Earth. (Even if she was in the stroller completely covered and sound asleep.)

Adeline is turning into a turkey. A Butterball Turkey. She is too cute!!! Look at these smiles. She’s got my mom wrapped around her finger!

Saturday, my grandparents came over to spend some more time with Adeline, then Saturday night my parents watched her so Adam and I could have a date night! We saw the new Star Wars movie, and I loved every second! I’ve decided I need my own BB-8.

Little bit was exhausted after family time, and apparently everyone else was too.

Sunday, my brother and sister in law, and our nephew came over before we hit the road. Little man was sick on Thursday, so we didn’t want to risk him giving Adeline anything on Saturday. We were finally able to exchange Christmas gifts, and my SIL made me the CUTEST pregnancy photo book. I’m SO glad I took so many photos during those 9 months. I will always cherish those memories!

We had a pretty uneventful drive home, and both Adeline and Truckee were happy to assume their usual positions. My sweet, sweet children!

And now we’re back at the start of another work week! I’ve got BIG goals this week to get outside after work and walk or jog some, so we’ll see if I can make it happen! I’m COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS until the sun is out longer and Adeline and I can go walking every night! I’m also looking into investing in a good jogging stroller, especially since Adeline will be able to ride in it safely pretty soon! If you have jogging stroller suggestions, let me know! If you tell me BOB, I will roll my eyes and ask you if I’m made of money. But really, I’m hoping to keep it in the below $200 range!

How was your weekend? Jogging stroller suggestions?

I love my Graco Fast Action jogging stroller. It’s very similar to yours but just one wheel in the front made for jogging. I actually did some jogging last week in it, but have used it for many walks and LOVE it! Plus your car seat fits into it. I couldn’t afford the BOB at all. I use this one for everything.

What a fun trip home. I imagine it’s the first of many, many trips! How fantastic that she slept the whole way! That’s amazing. She is quite the great sleeper!

AHHHH! I love this post!!! We went to that candy store last time I was in Franklin too 🙂

I have a BOB. Don’t roll your eyes though, I didn’t buy it myself! I definitely was hung up on the cost too, but it my in-laws only gift to us for Claire. And we got it way on sale through the Target registry completion and RedCard 5% off, so it was on sale plus 20% off? It was actually a good deal and that’s the only way I was okay with getting it.

I like it but it’s honestly not been AS awesome as I thought. The sun shade on mine does not stay down the the fabric on it was really tight and actually just ripped last week. So I’m going to see if they will repair or replace it. Not happy. Other than it, it is really great for running.

My friend has a Graco one that she was pretty happy with. Friends of mine who wanted a BOB but didn’t want to spend the money for a new one all found really good condition ones on Craig’s List. I’m not sure what CL is like in your area but there were TONS in Boston (maybe bc everyone there runs?). Might be worth a look if you actually want a BOB or even just any jogging stroller.

I’d love a post on road tripping with baby! We are doing a trip in March (she’ll be 5.5 months) and are a bit nervous since she doesn’t love being in the car while awake!

I have the BOB and love it but know nothing else!

Sleeping babies = best road trips!

Looks like an awesome time! Also, Adeline has the CUTEST wardrobe!

I love my BOB – I found one on Craigslist! Now I really want to upgrade to a double so I can take both girls!
