Adeline – 12 Week Impromptu Photo Shoot

Happy Friday!

Things have been pretty busy around here this week. With me getting ready to head back to work next week, I’ve been spending every waking second snuggling my sweet girl. Yesterday, she turned 12 weeks old! I can’t believe it. I feel like when she was born the thought of 12 weeks seemed like such a distant milestone, and next week she’ll officially be 3 months! AH! The time is flying by, as usual, but each day is sweeter and her little personality is really starting to make an appearance! On Wednesday, Adeline woke up from her morning nap in a good mood so I decided to do a little photo shoot with her to celebrate her turning 12 weeks. And because I’m obsessed with her monogrammed bloomers and want her to wear them as much as humanly possible before her chubby little bottom outgrows them!

I haven’t taken nearly as many pictures on my nice camera as you would expect. (I know! Who am I??) I always thought for sure the second my child was born I’d be all about snapping professional pics and editing them during her nap time everyday. Not so much! My iPhone has captured most of my favorite photos thus far, but I am trying to remember to taking nicer photos at least once a month. I have a hard time still calling myself a photographer, since I haven’t actually shot anything in months. But, maybe someday I’ll get back to it!

We took advantage of the natural morning light in our bedroom and I grabbed one of our softest blankets to use as the backdrop. The light in our bedroom comes in through one window, pretty directly, so it’s hard to avoid shadows unfortunately. If I had more time I would have been a little more picky with my placement, but I still love how they turned out. Nothing too fancy, but perfect for the memory books! I also didn’t make any of them black and white because I didn’t want to hide her hair color. For 9 months I dreamed and dreamed about what she would look like, and it was always the same – auburn hair and blue eyes. (It very well may fade to blonde, but until then I’m loving her coloring!) Oh! And that green chair – that was in my mom’s room when she was growing up, and a few years ago I took some of my bridal portraits in it, and now Adeline gets to play in it. So special!

I’ll be doing her 3 month photos next weekend sometime, and I’m really hoping to get a few of her outside in this ridiculously cute Baby Gap dress I ordered the other day. We shall see. We might end up back on our pink quilt for our norm!

Ok, here are my faves. She barely smiled for them, of course, probably because her mama was holding some big black thing in her face and waving around a baby rattle playing baby Mozart like a crazy person.

LOVE these! So adorable! Good luck next week. I’ll be thinking and praying. Also, what settings do you use when you take these photos? I can’t figure out a way to not just get all blurry ones when I take photos of Annabelle, haha. I have a Canon Rebel t4i. Not sure if you have Nikon or not. Any tips would be helpful πŸ˜‰

She’s so sweet! I’ve only used my iPhone for pictures of my 4 month old; I need to work on getting better quality ones!

Praying for your transition next week!
