Oh hey there! I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to stop by Sweet Miles. Of all the places on the internet, you’ve wound up here, and for that I am flattered! My name is Sarah and I am a full time working mom of two, as well as a blogger, Beautycounter consultant, sometimes photographer, and fitness enthusiast. I wear many hats, but motherhood by far is my favorite. This blog is truly my creative outlet, and serves as a space for me to document our life in a way that most gives me joy.
My husband Adam is also a full time working parent, who just so happens to be the best dad around. He jumps on here occasionally to serve up content related to all things dad life, tech, nerdism, and his own fitness journey. (Currently training for his first marathon!) He’s my number one fan, my partner in crime, and the Han to my Leia. Becoming a dad sometimes gets a negative wrap, so he’ll be here from time to time to encourage, support, and share a positive (and fun!) perspective.
We have two children – a beautiful daughter and a chunky monkey baby boy, whom I often refer to as A and B. I blogged throughout both pregnancies, which you can read here or here. There’s nothing better than navigating the ups and downs of parenthood with your best friend, and so far I’d say we’re doing a pretty decent job. I mean, no one said raising tiny humans was easy!
I also blogged both birth stories, which you can read here and here. We are blessed beyond measure, and so thankful for two wonderful birth experiences, and two healthy children. Both of their birth days were the most magical days of my life.
I love documenting our children’s adventures, milestones, and everything in between – they tend to take over this blog from time to time! (Read: always. They are always on the blog. Sorry not sorry.) When I originally started Sweet Miles though, it was a way to document my running journey while I was working a desk job I couldn’t stand. This blog eventually led me out of that job, and into my current career! (#praisebe) I covered a lot of miles during that time, and I loved being a devoted member of the running community, hence the original blog name of Sweet Miles. In my running days, I completed 2 full marathons, 7 half marathons, and dozens of short races. My marathon PR is 4:32:37 and I’ll forever have that number tattooed on my heart. I’m currently training for my 8th half marathon, after taking nearly 5 years off!
Since becoming a mom though, running has become less and less a priority, and instead I’m focusing on maintaining an active lifestyle, embracing my new role as a mom, and finding balance with everything I do. I’ve learned there are many miles in life, not just the miles you travel as a runner. I’m soaking up these miles, no matter how tough they are, because they truly are the sweetest.
On this blog, you will find my humble attempts at staying active and healthy. I’m living in the fast and furious season of motherhood, and most posts tend to skew towards topics of mom life. I often review fun products, share our family’s favorite not-so-healthy recipes, document our children’s milestones, and try to motivate others by sharing my fitness journey and passion for living life well. You’ll also find occasional posts from my husband, which I believe is only fair – he’s the other half of this equation, and I love hearing things from his point of view. Being a dad, and being a mom, has changed us, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
