How was your weekend?!
I told you we were going to have a fantastic weekend, and we did indeed. We drove back to my hometown of Nashville, TN to visit family, and for me to attend my best friend’s bachelorette party. It was a jam packed two days, but we made lots of fun memories, and I have lots to share. Excuse the iPhone photos this time, I was a busy lady!
Let’s start with Saturday morning’s workout!
If I don’t have a race planned, or if I’m not training for anything in particular, I am generally lucky to squeeze in one workout over the weekend. Anyone else this way? As you know, I LOVE finding time to workout while I’m traveling, even if it’s just a long walk. And the long walks I love most? The ones with my mom! We don’t get to do this very often, so when I’m in town I like to make it a point to get out of the house with her and catch up on everything while we walk and talk. This time we took Truckee, and she loved feeling like “one of the girls.”
I’ve learned a lot living away from “home,” especially that moments with family that are few and far between, are moments you want to remember.
My parents live pretty much in the woods, up on a ridge, so their neighborhood is nothing but big hills. We walked a little over 2.5 miles, and soaked up the sunshine! I forget how much I DON’T do hills here in AR, so it was good to give my legs a new workout. Truckee did so good! Her big nose took her off the road a few times, but other than that, she walked right along with us and was pooped the rest of the day. I knew she’d be in her kennel a lot that day so I wanted her to be able to stretch her legs! Starting the weekend off active is always a good idea!
After our walk, Adam and I got ready to go into town and run a few errands before it was time for lunch. For lunch, we had my grandparents, parents, and brother and sister-in-law and of course baby Henry over. This was Adam’s first time meeting our new nephew Henry, and only my grandparent’s second time to see him, so we took lots of sweet pictures! The pictures of Henry with his great-grandparents deserve their own post, so check back later!
Henry LOVED Uncle Adam’s beard. He was quite the fan and couldn’t take his eyes off him. I think they’re going to be best buds! I’m seeing lots of fishing adventures in the future.
And of course Henry loves me. We already knew that.
After our late lunch, I got ready to go to my friend’s bachelorette party! We all wore black dresses except for the bride who wore a cute white dress with her pink sash. I had planned to wear my go-to short black dress with red high-heels, but then I found this black maxi dress at Loft while Adam and I were out, and after combining a 40% off coupon with a $40 Loft rewards card, this beauty topped out at $18!!!!!! So, I said heck yes to the dress and opted for comfy over tall. Or sexy really. But whatever.
The party started at one of the bridesmaid’s apartment where we ate and had her lingerie party. How cute were these cookies?? Don’t worry, they were delicious too!
After she opened up all of her fun goodies, we headed to downtown Nashville to Zanie’s Comedy Club where we saw Loni Love. Without going into detail, Loni was a HOOT and I’ve now had my year’s worth of crude humor! But, it was hilarious!
It was so fun, and I think the Bride thoroughly enjoyed herself! She deserves it!
Sunday we headed back to AR, and I’m already missing the weekend.
How was your weekend? How did you stay active? Been to any fun get-togethers recently?
