Another wonderful weekend has come and gone! If you follow me on Instagram, then you already saw what we were up to! We headed down to Texas for a weekend with my in-laws to celebrate the wedding of some of their dear friends. It ended up being a cooler than usual weekend, and I loved every second of not sweating my bodyweight off!
Here are a few quick scenes from the weekend.
We started out playing in my in-laws pool for most of Saturday morning and early afternoon. It was overcast, and almost slightly chilly, but the kiddos didn’t care and had a blast anyways. I have yet to invest in a maternity swimsuit (aka, I have yet to decide how badly I want to try to squeeze into one) but the thought of floating weightlessly in the pool did sound pretty appealing! I’ll definitely have to jump in the lake when Adam and I go for our babymoon in September! Watching 5 kids aged 5 and under romp around in the pool never gets old.
Saturday evening it was time for the wedding. The ceremony was inside of Adam’s home church, and the reception was outside on the fully transformed basketball court. I had no idea what it would look like to have a wedding reception on a basketball court, but they pulled it off flawlessly and it was beautiful! I didn’t take as many pictures of the decor as I had hoped, mainly because I was too busy stuffing my face with cupcakes and cookies from their awesome dessert bar. Can you blame a prego? Or as Adam lovingly refers to me, pregnito bandito.
The bridesmaids wore super cute navy blue short dresses, with nude shoes, and the guys were in tan suits. They may have been grey, I honestly don’t remember! Either way, I loved the color palette combined with her flowers which were soft coral pink roses, hydrangeas, baby’s breathe, and a few touches of white and green filler flowers. Here’s a quick shot of the centerpiece for the table we were sitting at, just to get an idea. I felt like it was perfectly Texas and southern.
They did a great job of draping lights throughout the trees surrounding the basketball court, had huge floral pieces hanging from the goals themselves, several cute antique pieces spread throughout, like old chairs and tables, and the dessert bar was right next door on the patio of the “teen house” for the church. I so wish I had taken a picture of it all, it was really well done! They had also built rustic fences to outline the basketball court to block the ugly chain link fence. Here’s how it looked once it got dark:
The dance floor was in the middle of the court, and I told Adam that it cracked me up watching the “Texas kids” do their “Texas dances.” You don’t go to many weddings and see teenagers two-stepping together and line dancing!
Before it got too dark, I made Adam take a few quick pictures with me under the trees to commemorate us both being dressed up, and technically, Adeline’s first wedding! I wore one of my new Pink Blush dresses, with a pair of Jessica Simpson wedges I bought earlier that day at Nordstrom Rack! I was originally just going to wear flat sandals with it, but we were at the rack shopping for Adam and I randomly came across these and decided I just needed them to feel prettier at the wedding. Ha! I think they were a good purchase because they were SO comfortable the entire night!
Aren’t my nieces adorable? I’ll answer that for you. Yes, yes they are. It is the sweetest sound hearing them say “Aunt Sawah” and talk about what they’re going to teach Baby Adeline when she gets here. Apparently tea parties, somersaults, curling her hair, and being a princess are all on the agenda.
Sunday we headed to church with Adam’s family, then went back to his parent’s house for a big Father’s Day lunch. We chowed down on Babe’s famous fried chicken, then made the sleepy drive home to Arkansas. And now we’re all caught up!
These weekend trips are definitely getting more and more exhausting, and less and less comfortable. I know we’ve got a few more on the agenda though between showers and one of our nephew’s birthday parties. As long as Adam’s ok with me sleeping the majority of the drive I think I’ll be a-ok.
Tonight I’m planning on taking a LONG walk, since last night I didn’t sleep a wink. I think mainly because I didn’t exercise all weekend and I was just so restless. Does that happen to anyone else?
What did you do this weekend? Been to any weddings lately? Have you ever heard of Babe’s?
