Tuesday afternoon, Adam and I were both feeling like we needed to MOVE. You know that feeling when you haven’t exercised in a few days, but you know you’ve been stuffing your face with alllll the food? We were a little crunched for time, and knew neither one of us had time to put in a decent run, so Adam came up with a garage workout we could do alongside each other. Of course, as luck would have it, A woke up as soon we got ready, so we set her up in the wagon with the iPad and went ahead with our workout while B continued to nap.
Clearing out space in the garage for workouts has been one of the best things we’ve done. It’s made last minute workouts so doable, and it’s created less room for excuses! I can’t even remember the last time we both worked out at the same time, but being able to both workout, while one kid napped and the other watched the iPad for a little bit felt like a huge win in the parenting department. I’d say it was the definition of doing whatever it takes to make it happen!
I thought I’d share the workout we did. It was a good one!! The goal was 500 total movements, and to do each round as quickly as possible. Of course, I made modifications to the pushups and my squat jumps are a bit lacking, but remember, progress, not perfection! This workout got my heart pounding, my back sweating, and my legs burning. Woo! I mostly stuck to 5 and 8 lb dumbbells, and a 10 lb kettlebell, and Adam used 15 and 30’s.
We finished strong with each taking turns running to the end of our street and back, and high-fiving A as the grand finale. It was technically .33 mile, but I wrote in the workout .25 to make it easier to duplicate.
If you’re needing workout inspiration, try this one out and let us know how you did! Feel free to pin for later.
Happy sweating! And to all you parents out there trying to find ways to workout – good luck! We know it’s a tough, but hang in there!
How do you workout with the whole family home? Do you workout with your spouse or S/O?
