We have our 34 week appointment today, so I’m excited to hear little one’s heartbeat again. At our last appointment it was way slower than it usually is, so I’m thinking maybe she was just snoozing. I’m curious to see how she’s measuring too, since Adam and I both feel like she’s grown A LOT in the past two weeks! Wish us luck!
As promised, I’m recapping our lovely babymoon today! If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve already seen several pics from our trip.
We headed up to NWA (Northwest Arkansas — locals refer to this part of the state simply as NWA, and it consists of several smaller towns all clustered together up in the Ozark mountains. It’s also where the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is.) Anyways, we got up there Saturday morning around lunch time, and went straight into downtown Bentonville (home of WalMart) for a delicious lunch at one of our favorite tex-mex restaurants. I didn’t take any fancy pictures, but it was deeeeeelicious! After lunch, we made a quick stop at the grocery to pick up some snacks for the cabin, then we started on our way out to the lake.
Our cabin was on Beaver Lake, and was the cutest little thing you ever did see! We got an amazing deal on it for the weekend using VRBO, and I would highly recommend it! Working with the owner was very easy, and we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin. Once we turned off the “main” road, it was probably another 10 minute drive down a steep gravel road, then straight up to the cabin. I always think if you’re going to stay in a cabin, it should feel secluded, and this one definitely felt like it! Check it out…
The inside was almost a retro/chic style, and I loved all of the bright colors against the checkered floors!
Here’s the big screened in back porch, aka, Heaven! We loved sitting out here to read, and just BE.
Saturday afternoon we headed down to the dock to soak up some sun and do some fishing. AKA Adam do some fishing. There was a beautiful wooded path down to the dock, and not gonna lie, that thing was steep! It definitely wore me out each time!
Adam is a huge fisherman, so he loved being able to fish off the dock while I lounged off in the shade. It’s amazing what simply changing your scenery and NOT LOOKING AT A COMPUTER SCREEN can do for your attitude. Gah, so nice.
Saturday night we headed into downtown Rogers and ate at a small pizza joint. Holy yum! We already can’t wait to go back! I wish I’d thought to take a picture of our meal, but we split a fully topped pizza and a stuffed cheese and pepperoni cheese bread. When we got back to the cabin, we wrapped up the night with a competitive round of Nertz.
Early Sunday morning we spent several hours waiting for the sun to come up around the bend, and enjoyed the stillness of the lake. I think early morning on a lake is the best time on a lake! The water was so serene, and since it wasn’t hot yet it felt amazing!
The majority of Sunday afternoon we spent driving around exploring Rogers and Bentonville, just for fun. We love this part of the state so much, so it was nice to really take a look around and see what we could find.
Sunday night, we ate dinner at yet another tasty mexican restaurant, then headed back to the cabin for another evening relaxing on the dock, followed by lounging inside and playing cards. The cabin didn’t have a TV, which turned out to be quite wonderful. You don’t think about how many distractions are a part of your day until you remove them all! I think we needed these couple days away from everything to just be with each other and soak up some quiet time before Adeline makes her appearance. It’s a very strange feeling to know that next time we take a trip, she’ll be with us.
Monday morning, Adam fished a little more and I slept in, after an awful night of sleep. (No surprise there). We cleaned up the cabin, loaded up, then headed into town for a quick lunch before making the drive back down to Little Rock.
I think that about wraps it up!
Did you take a babymoon? Are you a fan of fishing or watching others fish? What is your idea of relaxation?
