80’s-90’s Playlist Essentials

Happy Friday!

Ok, I may have lied to you. I had planned on having a blogger feature up today, that I missed Friday, but, I wasn’t able to make it happen so TOMORROW it will be up! Fingers crossed I can get my game together.

So today, I’m sharing something FUN!

But before I do, let’s chit chat about last night’s workout. Shall we?

It was about as cold as death last night, so the gym was pretty vacant. I hopped on the treadmill and just did 3.1, still trying to improve my speed. Mile 1- 8:47, Mile 2- 8:34, and Mile 3 was somewhere in between. Not going to lie, I was TIRED last night so these 3 miles were more difficult than usual. I know I hadn’t hydrated enough throughout the day, and I was starving, so I’m sure that played into it. Plus, I just wasn’t really in the mood to run in the first place. But once I finished, I was glad I knocked it out. I then did some abs on the yoga ball, Β then did leg presses, leg curls, and lunges. The leg press was set at 70 lbs, and when I walked away I felt like this:

funny strength

True story.

Listen, we’ve all got to start somewhere!

I made sure to snap a selfie for you, since all bloggers know if you don’t take a picture, it never happened.

Never again, friends. I applaud all you who can stand in front of the mirror at the gym and instagram yourself. I will stick to shoe pics. Deal with it.

It was a good workout, and when I woke up this morning my legs felt heavy. Just what I was hoping for!

Ok, now for the FUN I promised you! Get that pinning finger ready!

PLAYLIST TIME!

I usually ALWAYS workout and run with music, and when I can get lost in a song it makes my workout go by that much faster. Plus, it distracts me from any heavy breathing or pain! I rounded up some of my favorite hits from the 80’s and 90’s that maybe you had forgotten about, and made a playlist for you. Every single one of these songs either makes me laugh, reminds me of something, makes me want to belt it out, or is just a good flashback! Ya’ll, 90’s music is my JAM, and I should probably be embarrassed by how many songs I still have memorized. Hope you’ll enjoy it too!

workout playlist from the 80's and 90's

PS, a decent chunk of these albums came out in 1998-1999. Late 90’s were where it’s at! Anyone remember watching any of these videos on VH1 or TLR??

What is one of your favorite throwback songs? Did you workout last night, and are you racing or running this weekend?

Don’t forget to enter to win a Momo Headband! You’ve got until tomorrow. And if you can’t wait to find out if you won, there is still a promo code available to you thru January 31!! Just use “sweetmiles” at checkout for 25% off! Whoop whoop! (momobands.com)

Pizza night tonight with friends, have a good day!

This is great! I’m not loving anything on the radio right now but my playlist needs major updating. Totally stealing some. Thanks!

Any 90’s R&B or hip hop is my fave! Love the beats and pretending to rap along with them! No race this weekend, just a 12 miler trail run with a huge meet-up group and some hill repeats on Sunday! This all may be followed up with an ice bath, but we shall see! Have a great weekend and run(s) too! Haha, loved the gym selfie. I love taking leg selfies too, I can do it without getting caught at the gym πŸ˜‰

Throwback 90s playlists are my jam!! Songs that I’ll never stop listening to: Want You Back (N’Sync), Roll to Me (Del Amitri), Jumpin’, Jumpin’ (Destiny’s Child), Wannabe (Spice Girls), Mmmbop (Hanson), When The Lights Go Out (Five), My Way (Usher)… I could probably keep going but I won’t. I love an embarrassing amount of 90s music!

I LOVE listening to throwbacks when I workout, especially for running. I make really weird playlists that range from Biggie to Jessica Simpson.

Lisa- I agree!! Music is always such a strong memory it seems, it’s an easy way to distract yourself from your run!

This playlist is the best! Smashmouth headlined at Rock n Roll Denver a couple of years ago, and by the time they came on stage, I was so cold, smelly, tired, and hungry… and they just WOULD NOT play “Walkin’ on the Sun.” I finally just left to go shower. I’m still disappointed. Ha.

Also, I can’t do the gym selfies either. So much awkward.

I know exactly how you feel about the gym selfie. I always feel super self-conscious about standing there taking a pic. And God forbid you forget to turn the flash off. Yikes!
