8 Totally Random Things We’re Both Loving Lately (And Might Be Obsessed With)

Happy Tuesday! Another short week, here we go!

This weekend ya’ll. Whew, it was a doozy. It was all about cleaning, organizing, and decluttering. It feels like we spring-cleaned all weekend, and it was so good for my soul. I knocked out several things I’d been wanting to do for what seems like months, and I’m so excited to have them done! We both had Monday off, so we spent it finishing off our to-do list, cuddling on the couch, and spending lots of quality time together as a family helping me recover from food poisoning. (<—- truth!) I woke up Monday morning feeling a little queasy, which soon escalated into a full blown bout of food poisoning/stomach bug from hell. And as fabulous and helpful as Adam is with Adeline when I’m sick, for some reason she still ONLY wants to be with me (whhhhhhhyyy). Let me just say, you have not lived until you’ve sat on the toilet with waterfall butt while your toddler sits in your lap reading a book. Not speaking from personal experience of course…Monday was an adventure to say the least. Thankfully I’m feeling much better! #keepingitreal #momlife

Moving on. Lately we’ve come across several things we have just loved, and I’m finally getting around to sharing them. They are random, oh so random, buuuut maybe you’ll love them too. Here we go –

1. Shark Rocket Ultra Light Vacuum

Some friends of ours were raving about their new vacuum so I borrowed it for a little test-drive. Holy. Mother. Of. Vacuums. Our house has LITERALLY never been so clean! Unbelievable. This thing picked up Truckee hair that I swear I’ve been staring at for five years now. Also, it doesn’t sound like a dinosaur roaring through the house and it’s super easy to pick up! We are hooked, and will be purchasing one next pay day!

2. My Protein Pre-Workout Supplement Drink

I blame Adam for getting me hooked on this. My-Pre Supplement Drink is chalk full of vitamins and minerals, creatine, caffeine, BCAA’s, and Beta Alanine to help give you a boost during your workouts. We have the blue raspberry flavor, and I feel like it really helps me survive my late night workouts!

3. Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap and Hand Soap in Lemon Verbena

Adam recently picked these out and I am obsessed! I’ve seen Mrs. Meyer’s products for years but just never branched out and actually tried them! There’s something so refreshing about a new flavor of soap! AND, Mrs. Meyer’s soaps are free of parabens and phthaltates (endocrine and hormone disruptors and possible cancer causers)!

4. Elyptol Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer

You guys know how much I love SAFE skincare products, so when the makers of Elyptol offered to send me some samples of their botanical-based hand sanitizer I couldn’t resist! This stuff is the bee’s knees, you guys! We’ve been using it nonstop and both find ourselves raving about how great it smells and how soft our hands feel! Most hand sanitizers stink of alcohol, but Elyptol actually uses eucalyptus oil combined with naturally sourced pure ethanol instead. It contains no synthetic chemicals, fragrances, or petrochemicals but still kills 99.9% of germs. Elyptol products are also eco-friendly! I have been loving keeping the spray in Adeline’s little backpack so I can easily help clean her hands in a pinch, and I know it’s safe enough for her delicate skin. Check them out on Instagram when you get a chance!

5. Harry’s Shave Kit

We are all about subscription boxes around here, and the most recent one we’ve tried is from Harry’s! Harry’s makes awesome shave kits for guys, but let’s be real, their razors work just as well on our legs as their wooly faces! Am I right?? I’m totally guilty of stealing his razor in the shower every now and then – my cheapo Venus razor ain’t got nothin’ on his 5 blade razors! I recently received the Truman Set in olive green for Adam, however, Adam refuses to use it until the end of duck season. (If you’re married to a bearded outdoorsman you will be able to commiserate.) I’m excited to see how smooth this sucker gets his face when he finally trims up – based on its look and feel it’s sure to impress! The kit was only $15, and comes with foaming shave gel, 3 extra blades, and a blade cover. If you’re interested – you can subscribe to a free trial, then choose how often you receive your blade replacements. They end up being about $2 or less per blade, and they ship straight from their German factory, which helps cut costs! It’s a pretty cool set up – and definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a gift idea for your man!

6. StrideBox

I’ve reviewed many a StrideBoxes on the blog, but lately we’ve really enjoyed digging through them! Now that we’re both back into fitness on a regular basis, it’s been so fun discovering new products together! We’ve never been disappointed, so I would highly recommend it! $15/month, and always full of high quality goodies!

7. DIY Banana Nut Bread Serving Platter + Pan

For Christmas, my father-in-law made all us girls a serving platter for the famous Ingle Banana Nut Bread. The Ingles make a mean banana bread, and is one of my favorite baked goods to whip up. I’m still perfecting it, but I’m hopeful that my new pan and serving platter will give me the edge I need to nail it every time! I served it at Adeline’s first birthday party, alongside donut holes, and it made the perfect side dish.

8. Netflix Originals – Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events

We just started this, but we already love it!! I mean, how can you not, it’s N.P.H.?! It’s so good, and if you ever saw the movie, it feels very similar! You should definitely put it on your list! Also on our list – The OA, finish Last Man Standing, Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders, Mr Robot 2, and finish West World on HBO.

What are you loving lately? Have you tried any of these 8 things? What show are you currently working your way through?

So my best friend just got a small vacuum like that for Christmas and has been raving about it! I decided we need one (hello hard wood floors and baby, lol. But, the price tag! OH EM GEE! I need to look into the one you mentioned and see if it’s any less because spending $300 for a small vacuum when my large (great though) one cost less than 200 is crazy town, lol. I hope you are feeling better and even with food poisoning, at least you had your little lady with you! 🙂

I really want a new vacuum! Having a dog and two cats means I’m constantly vacuuming and the one I have is so heavy! I’m definitely going to check that one out.

I am strangely intrigued by the vacuum – Type A personalities unite! Best thing I’ve tried recently would probably be DKNY be delicious apple body wash…you know the perfume that was super hot in high school. The scent sticks with you all day even after a full day of work and the gym.

Ok, I am going to have to investigate all of these things. I have loved those Meyers soaps (my mom has like the entire line) but we are using Method soaps at the moment. Netflix has some really incredible shows–they must make SO much money, I mean, seriously!

So many awesome things! So the vacuum. It’s so funny because my neighbor just lent me a similar type of vacuum (cordless/ meant for hardwood floors) and it’s not great, a few years old and was probably only $100 or less to begin with. But it has changed my life. I was SWEEPING my floors like 3x a day! Losing my mind, too! So thanks for the rec on that one!

And wow, I am I SO sorry about the food poisoning. It is impossible to be that sick with a needy little one who has no concept of understanding you need some space! Last spring, Claire got a terrible stomach bug and then a day later, my husband and I both had it. I was the most pathetic few days of our lives!! Hope all the illness is gone for good!

I’ve been all about using more natural products lately, and will check out the elyptol products! My husband is all about getting the best things, so our vacuum is one of those small and powerful things, and it will be a game-changer for you! Enjoy!

You apparently have lived through my biggest fear-stomach bug with a sick babe. My husband just had the stomach flu (while we were on vacation!) but we had left our son home with family. I was convinced I’d have it as soon as we got home but someone it skipped me. Thank god! Hope you are feeling better now!

I find that shark has a number of great vacuum cleaners that suit different cleaning needs. I particularly prefer the ones made for pet hair since I have a dog but I have seen and tried out a number of other models that work really well. The Shark Rocket Ultra Light is good for people who are vacuuming above ground areas since it is not too heavy, but it also does a decent job on the floors and carpet.
