Happy Halloween! If you’re the praying type, or the good vibe type, I’d love some prayers and good vibes that it’s not going to rain cats and dogs tonight! The weather forecast is not looking too promising, but I’m hoping the rain fades away early enough so our little princess and skeleton can rack up some treats.
And just like that, we’ve hit the 12 week mark! For some reason 12 weeks seems like a major milestone in the infant stage. It’s just about 3 months, and things are starting to level out and feel a little easier to handle. So far, at 12 weeks, both my babies have been able to confidently rock tummy time, which makes for some of my favorite photos. I just love seeing their faces from a new angle, and their chubby cheeks, burgeoning arm rolls, and looks of concentration just melt me. I took some similar photos of A as well, which you can see HERE. It’s amazing how similar they look – the shape of their eyes, their face, their hair color…definitely siblings! What a blessing it’s going to be to get to watch these two littles grow up together. I can’t wait to see how they continue to either look alike, or different as they mature.
Ya’ll, I’m having all the feels this week too. It’s my last week of maternity leave, and I could go on and on about how much I loathe the fact that the U.S. is the absolute worst at caring for new moms and families. It’s really sad, actually. You’d think we’d have our act together by now. But I digress. Regardless, I’m trying to soak up this last week where my full attention can be on baby B, and hang onto every snuggle and cuddle as much as I can. Thankfully, B will be just a day shy of turning 3 months before he starts daycare (the same fantastic school that A goes to!) and I’m oh so thankful to have taken 13 weeks off of work. I know a lot of mamas have to return after just 6 weeks, and my heart goes out to them. It’s never easy, no matter how long you’re able to stay home, but I know it’s the right thing for our family and I’m grateful to have a job I enjoy, and the convenience of working from home is a huge burden lifted. (Quite the opposite from our situation last time, but more thoughts on #workingmomlife to come) I’m looking forward to getting back into things, and establishing a more normal routine, and also, um, getting paid again will be *very nice*. But for those wondering, “why don’t you just keep him home with you since you work from home, and he’s just a baby?” Because working from home with a baby would be the fastest way for me to lose my mind! Ha! Also, it’s very, very difficult. Anyways, wow, did not mean for this to turn into a soapbox about going back to work. That’s what happens when I blog before my morning coffee.
BACK TO MY REALLY REALLY RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING BABY MAN CHILD!
Adam thinks he has Donald Trump hair, which is actually not too far from the truth. His combover is one for the books, that’s for sure. I’m smitten over his auburn locks, just like I was with A, but we all know how she turned out…blondie for life! He is really just so delicious I could eat him up, and I just want to squeeze him so hard. Is that weird to feel like you could physically eat your baby? Because he’s so freaking cute I swear that I could. We weighed him yesterday at A’s 3 year appointment and fully clothed, brother bear tipped the scale at 15 lbs 6 oz! He’ll turn 3 months next week, so I’m going to guesstimate his 3 month weight to be at least 15 1/2 lbs.
Here are some photos of a 12 week old baby bear, for your viewing pleasure. I’m planning on taking his 3 month photos this weekend sometime, and will be back with his full update next week. I can’t believe we’re almost a quarter of the way through his first year, but my goodness have I loved every second.
And just for fun…
Allllll the heart eyes for those two. ALL the heart eyes. May have to frame these two side by side.
What are your Halloween plans? Do you love the 3 month mark as much as I do? Did your babies look similar?
